That's my guess. They'd be paying it through an intermediary or an account in Panama though. And opaque though that may seem it wouldn't take long for the true origin to become apparent.

We’re in trouble I fear. Along with potentially many others. The FFP rules were crafted to maintain the old cartel and that forced clubs like us to bend the rules. They needed breaking and they need to go but if people at the club were dumb enough to put all this in unencrypted emails then my guess is a transfer ban and squad size penalties are on the way.Can anyone tell me if we are actually in trouble or if it's just that UEFA and the cartels are trying to screw us over? In this day and age for the club and the wider business not to be using encryption is pretty dumb.

I think he's on safe ground when arguing that FFP was not targeted at City/PSG - they were happy collateral collected up in the regs to rein in New Money Clubs. Where 'happy collateral' may mean 'examples of intended targets'. I think he's arguing the semantics that it was designed for two clubs, rather than a broad group which just oh-so-coincidentally includes those clubs.
