“City Matters” fan committee

I stand corrected.

Why should a Tunnel Club member get an away ticket if they don’t have enough loyalty away points? *Money should not be the deciding factor*.

Essentially these free away tickets may run into 100’s?

Did the club not introduce this as an incentive to sell Tunnel Club packages?

Has this been brought up at the meetings?

Away tickets are hard enough to come by as it is, without another layer of away tickets being syphoned off for players, staff, sponsors, and corporates.

As for ID. Football has become more and more regulated by the authorities and by the clubs. ID checks will just add to that. Celtic away was the prime example of how it can go wrong. And having to traipse across cities like Paris, Madrid, etc, to pick up your ticket, was and is a chore, which wasted time, and added additional expense.

If ID checks are going to introduced, then fans inside Gtr Manchester should be able to pick up their away tickets up at the club, with a ticket office window being open from early Morning to late Evening. For those fans living outside Gtr Mamchester, or elsewhere in the country, some other arrangements needs to be made.

It’s time the club added photo ID on to season ticket cards. It’s very easy to do. It takes seconds. Fans can get their picture’s taken and printed on to their season tickets during pre-season. They can then be shown on entry at the stadium on match days, and to pick up away tickets.

Why is that then....I wasn't asked my opinion or to vote? Not sure anyone was.
I will say again..40% of away tiks do not go on sale to season card holders...therefore to take 150 tiks from that 60% is wrong...scandalous imo
What did you expect from a City matters group made up of supporter club members with Uncle Kev on there too. You surely didnt think their 20% would soak up those 150 tickets did you?

City don't have the same following as United, we cannot even sell out a 1/4 final of the Fa Cup, heaven knows what demand will be like for the semi final judging by the apathy, and you want to create a system that alienates the most committed. Baffling

I think there may be a lot of apathy from fans in a certain age range who have simply got out of the habit of going to away games because it is hard to get tickets for the vast majority of them. You lose the addiction and Swansea away on a Sat night at 5.30 doesn’t appeal to the non regular away following. Doesn’t appeal to me and I wouldn’t go if someone gave me a ticket and drove me there and this is from someone who did all the aways at one time.

Perhaps we only have 4000/5000 or so fans interested in aways nowadays.

United always publish the number of people who apply for their ballot and the numbers whilst high are not mind blowing so ours would be much lower.

Wembley semi final if we get there will be an interesting challenge as I doubt more than 20,000 would go after one visit already, unless it’s United. We have not had a year when we have been semi final of FA cup in same year as league cup final so no precedent.

For what it’s worth from someone who doesn’t go to aways anymore;

I think the ID thing won’t work and it would piss me off too if I still went.

I think the Thomas Cook thing is fair enough but I know a lot won’t agree.

I think a limited ballot is fair enough but limiting it to age 18-25 is restrictive

I think too many tickets go to corporates and agencies

I completely agree but as the saying goes....Money talks and those people that are willing to shell out 10k+ per season they are going to want to keep happy.
It's the way of the World as sad as it sounds :/
I don't think it's just us that do that though, far from all the other major Clubs do it.

I support the view that tickets should be bought by people who use them, rather than those who sell them on to keep their points total up. I also support reasonable methods to enforce that. I suspect that's very much a majority view.
As you're the only rep that's engaging with us on this forum and I appreciate the feedback, can you answer this question:

If you support the view that tickets should go to the people who use them so it's fair, can it also be put forward so it's on the table the allocation each supporters club branches get so it's transparent for all to see, there's something not right when it comes to allocation of tickets to each supporters club?

Afterall if there's nothing to hide it shouldn't be a problem, right?

That's a complete non-sequitur and not my problem. It's for the SC's to take up with Kevin Parker.

Parker needs to answer that one. I'm not involved in one now but back when I was, there was definitely favoritism of certain branches who could pretty much get what they want with the rest of us feeding on scraps

I can guarantee it isn't done on pro rata

If it is true about Tunnel Club members getting away tickets, that isn’t down to money.

That is down to the club using free away ticket/s as an incentive to sell more Tunnel Club packages.

I’m 100% sure those people or companies would have bought Tunnel Club packages if away tickets weren’t included in the package.

Either the Tunnel Club packages weren’t selling as well as the club hoped and they decided to include away tickets to try and shift more Tunnel Club packages, or some bod at the top came up with the idea?

And let’s be honest, bar the United, Liverpool, and perhaps other important away games, I’m guessing those away tickets are never used, and are either sold or passed on?

@Prestwich_Blue have we heard what’s happening to the Tunnel Club refugees?

It's not just Tunnel Club. Even Joe's get them I believe. United off 10% of their away allocation to their Executive Club members and I think they have at least 5,000 of those. We have half that number and give them 15% of ours. If people are being ID's then that should include hospitality season ticket holders as well.

It should, but will it?

I mentioned it at the last meeting and made the point that the current system wasn't acceptable. I'm going to specifically ask at the next meeting in a couple of weeks that they open the relocation process to all unallocated seats for you and those others affected, as we've discussed.

I believe they have to pay for them, so aren't actually 'free' however that doesn't make the fact any better.

I believe the lower end corps go into a ballot for more 'popular' aways. Someone on here is in Commonwealth and said last season about the ballot for the Commonwealth for the dippers away CL QF.
