School kids protest climate change

I could but won't as I can write and spell, my teaching english as a language qualification atests to that, I cannot speed type on qwerty and I never proof read, do I care?? Nope.

Shite comeback btw, the internet is brimming with bad spelling from people perfectly able to spell and write

Are you an actual genie ?

Kids don't walk anywhere.

This is correct for many kids but that’s the fault of the parents, I used to walk to school because I was told to. I have no faith whatsoever that our selfish Species will sort this out. Nice to see so many population expansion lovers from that thread concerned about our enviroment. The gdp whores playing at morality.

Good on these children and shame on politicians who try to deflect the cause.

If the people in a position to do something about it, actually did what they wanted, ie; demolished all oil/coal power stations,
used solely wind and wave power, they'd most certainly get plenty of time off school, as most would be shut.
What do they expect the government(s) to actually do? Do the above and the economy is completely gone, no more mobiles,
cars, TV's, in fact virtually everything. It's all very self satisfying and worthy but ultimately, it's futile, what would be a more
powerful message would be collectively not using phones, walking everywhere and not flying abroad, using a school day
to bunk off is much easier. Climate change is an emotive subject, for sure, my personal take on it is it is impossible
to halt without population control, because a fast increasing world population is the fundamental reason behind it.
Youve probably got a point about the population but there's not much we can do about that. There's surely an in-between where we don't destroy the planet and people can still use their phones. There's plenty the government could do, not just ours but worldwide . They only look at what will keep them in power for a few years, they've no interest in anything beyond that so nothing will be done about it. Criticising kids for making the point though is pretty poor form I think

Funny how they couldn't have arranged it on a weekend, eh!
Wouldn’t have got one inch of coverage though, would it? “Kids go out at the weekend” doesn’t have quite the same impact as the government front bench calling them all ‘truants’ and the Telegraph frothing at the mouth using words like; anarchy and chaos.
It’s no different to every decade when the establishment (older people and moralising newspapers generally) moan incessantly about younger people as if the country has seen young people behaving differently to older people for the very first time!

I see the kids have been striking again today about climate change. Good for them, but a thought occurs. If we worked out how much mitigation would cost, would they be willing to pay the price? It is a British habit to demand stuff which would raise taxation to 60% but, when asked, agree that 40% is about the maximum level that is bearable. How do we persuade people to agree to pay for improvements?

It’s like there’s a kind of Godwin’s Law on here, just with Corbyn instead of Hitler. Seen him mentioned in the last few days in threads about Soldier X, the New Zealand terror attacks and now a schoolkids’ protest about climate change. Odd.

If you can't protest about these issues when you are 16-18 years old when can you?-they have belief in these issues and that must be better than apathy. However the middle class mums who let their kids(4 year olds) chalk all over the cenotaph got on my nerves -they had the rest of St Peters sq to do that!

By the same posters too. They are absolutely obsessed with him.

Anyway this will cheer them up :)

Is he not to be discussed any longer in here?

A protected subject?

Now that would be odd imo.
