Grand National

I really shouldn't bet on this race as I know at least one horse always dies, but I've bet on this race for as long as I remember. Might be my last one.

I don’t think a horse has died in the national for a a few years now although 2 died at Aintree in fridays racing.
My attitude has changed slightly though as the missus is very knowledgeable on the sport, and the life race horses live is far superior to your average horse stood in a field as you drive down the road. They’ll be in stables, well fed and well groomed and looked after every day. There is a literally a few people employed to look after them.

Yes there is the risk of them being killed in a race, but the life they live is probably better than being stood in a field for 15 years and a lot of them wouldn’t be here at all if they weren’t bred for racing.

I saw one horse just pull up whilst it was running yesterday and when I looked properly its poor leg was flapping around from below the knee. It didn’t look to be the result of a fall it was just running. I presume that was one of them but I don’t know for sure.

Awful. More misery piled on species for human gain. We are utter scum.

The National is normally a terrible race for me, but you have to have a go. So good luck all.

Family bet so....all ew

Livelovelaugh
Rock the Kaaba
Tea for Two
And of course - Pleasent Company

oh look false start, what a shock, the fucking starter just can't help himself for his look at me moment

Up for Review has been put down after falling at the first.

Fuck this sport.

I saw that. I had it in an each way bet. It was clear from the way it was flailing around that its back was broken, or something similar.
Felt a bit shit after that :-(

They just don’t need to make those fences so bloody high , what’s the point ? Wouldn’t make it less fun having them really low

"Positioned in front of the grandstand, it is the tallest fence on the course, at 5 feet 3 inches (1.60 m), preceded by a 6 feet 0 inches (1.83 m) open ditch on the takeoff side. The Chair is also comfortably the narrowest fence on the Grand National course, bar the Water Jump."

Those numbers are mad!!

Ridiculous - who would complain if they made them half the size ?!

They have those but they are called hurdles.

The national fences have altered so much over the last few years, the height is mainly bulked up by loose branches, you can plainly see this when they plow through the top.

It is always sad when a horse dies during a race, no doubt about that at all but calling people scum is just going way over the top.

Cheltenham face off bob? I'm sick of seeing your taxi picking up/dropping off the trophy every couple of days this sharing thing isn't working, we need an outright winner :)

Your two v my Anibale Fly & Jury Duty?

Yeah played but I'm coming back from Wemberlee with my lad & your girl was at Aintree. ;)

We'll done Bob...we needed a tie breaker.

Had higher hopes for Joe Farrell @bottom weight who pulled up at the 29th ..stamina never open to question . Hope you enjoyed your day down south. Adios:
