Var debate 2019/20

It has two angles up and the ref chose to specifically review one. The ball hit his elbow then his hip. It wasn’t deliberate. Next season the rules are changing and it wouldn’t have stood. Just to add insult to injury. But the decision was right tonight. Sadly.

I think you're right but let's have it right, if that was City scoring that goal, the ref would have had every angle available and the goal would have been disallowed without hesitation.

never saw an elbow goal allowed with var. That said, your grudge with the champions league doesnt help the team, try to embrace the competition, support the lads and then maybe you'll win it

Barcelona boo’s and whistled the UEFA ‘anthem’ far more than we did. They won 4-0.

Pep & Pep alone cost us that tie. He got it horribly wrong last week, then tonight when we were destroying Spurs he took the defensive approach.

No mate. I’m not a ducking investigative journalist and if the national media is wrong then I hold my hands up but the BBC isn’t some **** off twitter
The BBC sport crew are a bunch of lads in Salford that make it up as they go along.

You’re speaking shit.

It will harm the game. A big part of the game is the moment. The mad celebration when the ball hits the back of the net, quick check of ref and linesman, then go ballistic. Imagine celebrating 93.20...…….then waiting for VAR to see if there's any reason to disallow the goal.

You're using a reference to a penalty given for a DEFENDER, blocking a goal bound shot? I'm talking about an attacker scoring a goal mate. You're wrong sorry, waffle on about the rules of the game all you like, you clearly have them confused here. Read what I wrote properly, the offside rules defines what you can SCORE with. You're talking about something else.

Okay. Well a professional ref reviewed it on video review and gave the decision in their favour. Personally I hope he got it right because if he got it wrong it will only make me feel even worse than I do tonight. If you’re right then fair play. Doesn’t change we’re out though sadly

Some of you guys are a disgrace. It was a fucking handball and it should've been disallowed. The blind Clattenburg even says it in his article on the Daily Mail. But that twat didn't saw the ball hitting Llorente arm. His quote: "If the ball had gone in off his arm or hand then it would have been disallowed, even if the contact was not deliberate."

In this clip it shows Llorente hit the ball first with his arm. It should've been disallowed.

Thankyou... I knew I had that right. It doesn't matter if it's deliberate when you're scoring a goal from it.

Takes the joy out of celebrating a goal in fear of it being over turned. I know it was the correct decision but it genuinely hurt me celebrating that goal and then having it taken away. I tend to look at the ref after we scored which isn't how it should be, completely takes the emotion out of the game.

Every goal is checked by VAR. You just don't get instant replays showing offside on the majority though.

I do get the gist of your point though.

I can’t get my head around any fan being in favour of it. Give me the shittest refs in football history over VAR.

We didn’t get what we deserved: we were the better team overall in a drawn tie.
Then you should take those Blue Tinted Specs off.
Any team who concedes 3 goals at home ,irrespective of how many we score, do NOT deserve to go through, especially when the amount of opportunities go begging is the reason why we are out of this competition.
But once again I still claim that we will WIN the PL.

I get that mate, it might make it easier to forget but even though it's more painful, we have to acknowledge it rather than give him a pass.

It probably isn't rational but it feels like dismissing it even if it's just a way of getting over it, it's giving refs the go ahead to give us more of the same in the future. When really what we think doesn't affect refs much at all.

Also it might just be that he fucked up bigtime here but it feels like a conspiracy right now. How many times are we going to feel this injustice?

I agree. It’s weird seeing opposition fans jumping up and down because they haven’t conceded
