Var debate 2019/20

Hahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Talk about clutching at straws.
So if Vinnie had scored would you have complained ?
Would you fuck.
Talk about double standards.
It was NOT that goal that saw us out ... it was the overall shit defensive display that defined our season.
Fucking coward, you’re avoiding the original question of why Llorente didn’t get his arm out of the way of a relatively slow moving ball from 20-25 yards away.

Are people arguing when refs have already cleared it up that you already cannot use your hand/arm at all?

Even if it's not spelled out(which they are changing next season) the OFFSIDE rule implies what you can and cannot use in scoring a goal. It should NOT have stood. Which is why they always rule it out when the do spot one.

Pep said, " one angle it looks handball on another it doesn't"
The broadcaster has a lot of power in which views are given to the VAR team and ref for review.

I remember seeing a rugby international when a ref asked for a Wales try to be video reviewed. It was obvious to all the viewers there was a huge forward pass, but the broadcaster, BBC Wales showed a replay from behind the try line rather than above. The ref was oblivious to the forward pass and the try was allowed.

Incidentally, in this case I haven't seen clear footage showing a handball yet?

Maybe Pep or City could find some if they don't think it's "too sour grapes", BT or whoever is responsible for the broadcast images should be exposed if unfair play has occurred?

Last season in the QF's we needed VAR, but didn't have it. This year, we have it and it costs us in the most cruel way possible.

I'm not sure the Champions League is meant to be for us.

Not until we prioritise it over every other competition. It’s no coincidence that the last two English sides to reach the final finished around 25 points off winning the league.

What does my fucking head in, is that as match-going fans you still don't have a fucking clue what's going on. The rest of the fucking world is seeing replays from every fucking angle, with lines across the pitch and ultra-slow motion, but the people who actually pay the fucking money to be there are left to wait for judgement from on high, with no explanations, nothing.

I was all for it, but fuck me the application of it is fucking diabolical.

****s.

Why didn’t he get his arm out of the way? The ball came from 20-25 yards away and wasn’t hit with the same force as a shot for example, he has time to move his arm away and doesn’t.

We all have our subjective view I suppose (hence why I don't think VAR will ever achieve the clarity it claims to) but for me the corner drops to him after the spurs player and vinnie jump and it just hits his arm, then his hip, and goes in. I don't personally think that was deliberate and if the 18.9 IFAB rules are in play its a goal. Only my opinion tho!

Definitely hit his elbow arm.

Before spuds got the 1st corner..the one Eddie slid in to block the ball..
The spuds player looked a yard offside..only seen it at the game so not had a chance to check ...was he off ???

Clattenburg says it doesn't matter if it slightly touched him as the last touvh was with his hip and so it doesn't count as it is scored by the arm. And to be honest, i agree with him. I'd be furios if we scored that and it was cancelled.

"If the ball had gone in off his arm or hand then it would have been disallowed, even if the contact was not deliberate.

However, the slow-motion replay clearly showed that the ball went in via Llorente's upper thigh. There was a suggestion that Llorente's skin rippled and perhaps the ball did brush his arm - but that contact would have been so slight and the goal is scored with the thigh, not the arm."

He`s talking shit as usual !!
It has to be deemed as "deliberate" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fuck off.Did he intentionally put his arm out to score ??
Did he fuck.
Next season any "goal scored" with "the arm" will be not e allowed.
Please just admit that we were poor at defending and that was our downfall.

Yes, we were poor at defending. Happy?

You might want to re-read though, mate. It does NOT have to be deliberate!!! So it should not have stood.

;)

I fully respect your opinion, I disagree but respect it all the same. The posters I have a problem with are the ones who posted quite clearly their opinion on 21st Feb that the Otamendi handball was deliberate but claim Llorente’s wasn’t. WUM bellends and yes a certain poster knows exactly who I mean.
