Yes but they are entitled to splash out what they want as they earned that money,while we have to resort spending soulless petrol dollars.

I thought Kev was £58m, could be wrong. Quoting some fees in euros others in £ don’t help

Worth noting that the comments - which don't appear to be more than a couple of City fans, rather general ones - agree with the article.

That is more indicative I think of the wider opinion, I don't think Twitter or comments in the papers are remotely representative. None of the friends and colleagues I talk football with bring up the crap City are beaten with - they all think it's amusing that others whine about money given what they've done. I'm convinced that's the more general view.

The agreed fee was supposedly €75m when we bought him which made it c£55m in the UK with the exchange rate at the time. So Mahrez at £60m is our most expensive fee.

If we'd paid €75mil when the pound was at it's weakest a couple of years ago it would have been c£70mil.

There's no way Spurs team (or even squad) costs £730M. That looks like transfermarkt's current 'value' of them, which is much much more than Spurs have ever spent.

An excellent article which cuts through the usual bullshit of the media ( with the exception of Martin Samuels ).

I just goes to show that the media will lift their figures from wherever suits their narrative.

Not just the media, but transfermarkt seems to be the go-to place nowadays, which is why costs quoted vary so much (euros at 2019 exchange rate, nominal 'market value', etc).
