to be the best of the best, to be crowned kings of Europe; that neither team has won Jack shit, just shows
what allowing so many clubs from each league to compete in a 'Champions League' knockout comp,when the overwhelming majority
are anything but champions, is one reason I've never cared for this competition since it was extended. To include
teams scraping into 4th in their home league, and coming in 28 points shy of the true Champs is a trifle silly.

Money - more clubs, more fans more money. Personally I've always thought it should be for clubs that have actually won their domestic league and cup comps. I'd much prefer 1-2 CL places allocated to the league and one each to the fa and caribou cups. It would certainly breath life into the cup competitions and give the CL credibility.

Funnily enough there’s only two other occasions when a rule change affected who won it I think. United would have won it in ‘95 on goal difference if it was 2 points for a win, and the dippers would have won it in ‘89 if goal average was used instead of goal difference / goals scored. So Liverpool are the only team to have missed out twice due to rule changes decades earlier. Lol.
Let’s hope they lose today due to a marginal VAR decision or goal line technology that wouldn’t have been spotted otherwise.

30 and 58 years without winning the league. Two League Cups between them in thirteen years. Neither of them in the top 4 in the league table of the decade.
