Due to the time frames, we wouldn't be banned from next year's CL anyway so at the very least, anyone coming in has a fantastic shot at that trophy
 
Seems a lot depends on the possibility of players who were going to go changing their minds and maybe staying now? Danilo, otamendi, gundogan to name a few? Personally think we need to strengthen while we are the champions as the dippers owner has already said they will spend big this summer.

1, 2 or 3 and that's not me hedging my bets, it'll be down to outgoings. There's also the separate issue of a backup goalie to consider as I don't know if Muric or Bravo want to stay on the bench.
 
We ought to think about signing someone at some point... but still a while to go. Ideally we'll get our business done before preseason starts this year (i.e. in the next month) so they have time to bed in but that's not Txiki's style. I understand why he likes to haggle to the last penny but the downside of it is that it creates a lot of uncertainty as to when or if signings will arrive. Would rather pay Rodri's clause and get him in than end up with no Fernandinho replacement all season because Ndombele's price didn't go down enough.

I agree. These deals need doing as soon as possible so we can all settle down and enjoy the summer.

The only way the dippers can challenge us is buying the referees and opposing goalkeepers again. Their midfield is beyond shit, Lallana will make a difference if they can keep him fit in terms of creativity and Kieta isn’t bad when he’s on form but they’ll come up against a lot more stationary buses next season I imagine and haven’t got the quality to break them down as frequently as us. Hence the 1 defeat all season and 2nd place.
 
I can see us missing out on most of our targets due to the fact of the money involved, huge fees and players wage demands, rather that just wanting to play City.
 
for me, the two must purchases are a centre half and a central more defensive midfielder (the long term replacement for Ferna). Only if we were to lose Sane do I think we need another attacking option. We have Aguero(for the next two seasons) and Jesus , plus sterling, Bernardo KDB, Mahrez all as good attacking options and therefore any additions in that aspect of our game is more about planning for the future (nothing wrong with that)

However additions to centre half and central midfield are needed for next season.

It looks like they'll be spending big again but on that midfield this time. We shouldn't be standing still and letting our rivals over take us and if we dont sign anyone and refresh the team it will be very difficult to retain the title.

That may be what happens. Though the keep Sane, Otamendi, Danilo and even Gundogan is down to the players more than the club.
 
We need a keeper, a forward who can be relied upon to score in big games and a decent creative midfielder....
 
We need a keeper who can play as a striker when needed. For example Pearce’s James.
