João Félix

Genuine question; is he really that good? What is it about him that is driving these superlatives? Shot, passing, speed, skill? I've only seen youtube and he looks ok but nothing great and certainly not $100M great. I just dont see it?

The dogs knackers.... it’s his ability in-between the lines that sets him apart.

There are a few banging on about pace but he glides this lad, he’s similar to Zizou!

Exactly, when Khaldoon talked proudly of the fact we haven't got the most expensive player in every dept of the team, stories like this make a mockery of that interview.

No really. If the player is worth it i'm sure we'd be willing to pay it. Even Pep said that he wouldn't rule out buying a player for over 100m.

And then there is the fact that he wouldn't be the most expensive forward/attacking midfielder even if we did.

Just watched this. He's clearly majestically talented. Thing that impresses me so much is his passing tbh. Really, really creative passer of the ball. Great natural finisher too, of any kind. I don't think we'll get him, but I can see why people are so excited. He's basically got everything other than searing pace.

Well I’m convinced. Make it so number one.

The number of different finishes he has is insane as well. He chips the keeper, curls it round, smashes it high and near post, lets the ball run across him and just flicks it far post. Has more headers than someone his height should have too.

He's a natural goalscorer, I wouldn't be surprised if the 20 he got this season turns into 30-35 next season if he stays in Lisbon.

We won’t get him, unfortunately, however if by some miracle we did, he is literally like Bernado in that he will excel in a number of positions, personally though I’d have him as a long term 10!

Left sided Bernardo to begin with. In that not-quite-a-winger role, Sterling wide right.

I think we've got a better chance than we did with Mbappé purely because Real and Barca aren't involved. We are by far the most attractive Premier League club, on the best terms with Mendes as well, and because we're in such a position of strength with the current squad we could potentially do the kind of deal the Portuguese press are talking about with him staying for 12 months, which Bayern or United couldn't.

He could be Bernardo with 30 goals a season.

He really reminds me of Kaka, and not just because he looks a bit like a young Kaka physically. I think it is a huge risk given the price quoted and that it is the Portuguese league he's coming from but he looks a gem. Think he'll go to Atletico once Griezmann pisses off and eventually will be a Barcelona target in a few years.

The disappointing thing is, we won't sign him because we won't be willing to pay the big money.

I think the acquisitions have been very good since Pep has come to the club, but when players as good as David Silva and Sergio Aguero are heading towards the end of their City careers, as a club we really should be looking at just paying whatever it takes to land the best young players out there. Looking at the clips, he looks like a natural finisher, a very intelligent player and one which could become a massive world star. I'm more concerned about wages than transfer fees personally. Astronomical wages can unsettle the dressing room, particularly if a young player comes in earning more than players like Aguero and Silva who have been here a long time, but in regards to transfer fees I honestly couldn't give a shit. I'd stick two fingers up at Uefa and just pay whatever it takes to get the players we want.

If we want João Felix, let's just get him. No point in budgeting to get players who are 3rd or 4th on our list of targets, now is the time to get the top of the list.

Deals as efficiently as Bernardo Silva are very, very rare, it won't happen again. I hope we aren't holding on to this deal as a guide for future targets because we will miss out on some serious players.

He really does look a special talent.

He won't be a fluke either, you can see he's just got it. The finishing, the football brain, the skills, he looks an absolute class act.

I've mentioned on this forum before about Milinkovic Savic being overrated when everybody was absolutely raving about him. Yes he looked good on YouTube, but even from the YouTube clips, there was something missing, quite like Pogba. Had all the fancy tricks, but lacked that speed of thought that separates the good players from the very best. João Felix has it. Looks a cross between Kaka and Rui Costa.

Sign this lad up. Don't care about the cost.

I think our owners are still worried about how our club is perceived throughout the world, and are now reluctant to throw hundreds of millions at the transfer market these days.
