However looking at her possible replacements

It's not her last day. She steps down as Conservative leader to become acting Conservative leader until that election is complete.

She stays on as PM until there's a winner.

It is her last day, as thread title says where did I say as PM though?

And let's be honest she hasn't been a functioning PM since December, parliament has ground to a holt since she bottled out of the original vote.

I doubt in the nexy 5-6 weeks she will pull a rabbit out of the hat to recoup her shiteness as PM so instead of one thread now and one later let's just say tara to her leadership as a whole

Well, since you started off with "Bye Theresa" and she's not going anywhere today, she's literally just changing from Conservative Party Leader to Acting Conservative Party Leader...

I don't know why you feel the need to make a point on her effectiveness. It was just a factual post.

I think you're being a bit pedantic. Tomorrow she will still be here, still party leader and still PM.

It was, but then even as acting leader no one is listening to her anyway.

I find the while thing stupid tbf she should be leaving same day as the new one starts, acting or caretaker leader in the role as PM or party leader in the present crisis is, well to me it is pointless and pathetic from our politicians so I started a thread to reflect that pointlessness of todays anouncement.

Calling her useless is just true

No I want her to stand down and be replaced on the same day, this acting PM shite is stupid and all to placate the cranks in her party who wanted her gone asap.

The waters are a bit muddier than that....

As a matter of constitutional propriety, May will only be able to resign as prime minister if she can tell the Queen that her successor commands a majority. A Downing Street spokesman said May would resign when “she says to the Queen that she is stepping aside and believes that someone else can command the confidence of the house”. Her spokesman said a vote does not need to take place for May to believe that the new leader has the confidence of the Commons.

Labour sources said they believed the government whips had been planning recess to start potentially as early as 19 July – almost a week earlier than last year – in a move that could have delayed a confidence vote in the new prime minister. The announcement of the winner of the Tory leadership contest is not being announced until the week of 22 July.

Peter Bone, a Conservative backbencher, told the Commons on Thursday that the new prime minister should face parliament straight away. “Parliament matters. It seems to me entirely proper that the new prime minister should face this house before any recess.

“If the government falls on a vote of confidence on a newly elected Conservative prime minister, I would expect the Conservative prime minister to take us to the country and return with a substantial majority. We should not be afraid of parliament. We should encourage it.”

Agreed, it does beggar belief, if the hang em and flog em Tory shires carry Johnson shoulder high in to 10 Downing Street, there's a trap door waiting for PM Boris.

It wouldn't require much movement in the Commons for a "no thank you very much", then we'd be in general election country.
