João Félix

I keep seeing people say he will be an attacking midfielder for us...can't see that at all. If we extend Gundogan what would be the point of playing this lad there when we'd have De Bruyne, Bernardo, Gundogan, and Foden there? And that's only AFTER Silva leaves.

IMO the only chance this happens is if we sell Sane this summer, and he is 100% going to be a forward if he comes.

I think he would end up as attacking mid but could fill in elsewhere.

But I also think he is likely a replacement, not an addition.

Don't think we will extend Gundogan and he'll leave with Silva next summer, Pep seems to prefer Bernardo wide, after this season that leaves KDB and Foden. I agree if Sane stays we don't need him this season which is why I think we wouldn't be averse to leaving him there on loan.

The Gundogan extension I merely brought up because of his recent comments about wanting Leroy to stay and the rumors that we may agree to a deal before the season starts. I didn't think he would even a month ago but things seem to have changed.

In regards to Bernardo out wide, it seemed that Pep had a lineup he trusted and knowing that the title race came down to every single game, he didn't want to deviate from it. He loves his midfielders, so I understand in must-win scenarios him wanting as many of them on as possible.

Bernardo is simply too good not to be a regular in the starting XI, but I feel like if he plays primarily on the wing next season, then Mahrez is 100% a goner next summer, with the potential exit of Leroy hanging in the balance as well.

I still think long-term Bernardo is a central midfielder for us.

I also think that the only chance he stays there on loan is if we pay about half his asking price, and even then I'm not sure we'd spend over £50m on a player to leave him on loan.

Not really. We won't have Bernado there as he plays outside.

next season KDB bernado and ferna :) with david waiting in the wings when teams get a little tired, lovely

Has Gundogan actually extended ? If not, how long do we wait before we lose him on a free ? I know the club, apparently, said we will be prepared to lose him on a free but with a potential ban can we take that risk if David leaves as well next year ?

Like a few have said think this lad will be contingency if sane is sold.
Think that's definitely the case for next season, but if we do get a ban and Silva , Gundogan , maybe Fernandinho go next summer we do need some kind of contingency in place, that's why I think if Sane stays buying him and leaving him on loan playing and developing every week is ideal.

Cant see it myself if we fork out a big fee think Pep would want him right away.

How it usually is, involves the usual suspects who overpay for the big publicity older players, overpaying for the big publicity younger players, while City get in early on someone else & snap them up whilst they all argue about the other guy.

This guy is in the news every day but so far his agent doesn't seem to have successfully linked him with anything concrete from Real or Barca, or even seriously with Utd, in spite of trying each day.

It could be that he only wants to play for Pep, but it could also be that either those teams can't afford him or don't want him, both of which I find concerning, because if they thought he was that good, they would find the money.

I haven't seen anything so far to suggest he's worth anything like the fee being asked, but I don't watch him every week.

Half his highlights reels though, quite often cut out just after he beats a couple of players, which means he then lost the ball on each occasion, like Mahrez & Sané get panned for.
We've paid some decent transfer fees, too. I'm sure that the club has a valuation and they'll stick to it. I don't think that contradicts my point that clubs pay for potential. I also feel fairly confident the powers in charge feel we missed out with Mbappe and don't want to let a chance slip.

We'll see, though. Never can tell with these things until they're signed and completing a physical.

Weird, for weeks we"ve supposedly been all over this, now all of sudden lots of reports we're not interested. Something's changed ...

That kind of money for felix is just fucking stupid, like wise for de Ligt, the pair of them are not proven, especially in the premier league.
Agree with the Félix one wouldn’t want him..but defo not the De Ligt one he’s proven at international level over the past year and has also been successful at the highest level In Europe, would be a huge risk signing Félix especially as we have Phil.. but De Ligt IMO is potentially the worlds best would be over the bluemoon if we signed him.

We missed out on Mbappe, but we didn't miss out on paying more than he's worth, which PSG did.

Nor were Bernardo, Aguero, KDB, Kompany, Zabaleta, Ederson, Laporte, Sané, Jesus, Fernandinho etc. etc. etc.

Who gives a fuck about Premier League proven? All our best transfers have had zero PL experience and been better for it. Do you know who was premier league proven? Fucking Bony, Sinclair and Rodwell.

De Ligt has similar amounts of experience to Bernardo, Ederson, Sané when we bought them, far more than Jesus.

De Ligt at €75m aka £66m is a fucking bargain compared to Harry Maguire at £80-90m, even if he takes half the difference home in wages.

Not really.
Real Madrid was ready to pay the 180 M + a 30 M taxe because Monaco is considered as a tax-heaven by Spain authorities.

And if PSG were willing to sell, he would go for far more than the initial fee. I have seen Madrid quoted to be eager to pay 280 M without any hesitation if PSG allowed it.
