Is Pep the greatest?

No... Joe Mercer was the greatest... having also been Captain of England (and of Arsenal when they we an actual club). Nevertheless, Mancini is a living god because he did the impossible... by destroying the Filthy Red Scum after 44 years of horror...

Mercer or Mancini didn’t have us playing like this. Give it a rest.

Surely you can see all the rags fan saying Sir Alex is still the greatest manager ever to grace the Premier League. However even sir Alex never managed to do the clean sweep of all the domestic trophies, or even the great Bill Shankly managed that feat. So yes I would have to say that Pep is the greatest manager to grace the Premier League.

two dodgy var decisions away from immortality. He nearly got the lot and that would really of pissed on the scousers chips, as it is we will have to be happy with just pissing on their pudding and gravy.

It’s close between them 3 but as a visionary and tactician Pep is ‘standing alone’

My teenage sons future kids children will know how fucking good Pep was. That’s how long his immortality will last

He’s the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be (unless The Goat enters into management obvs)

Pep is a great manager ,
just wonder if he hadn’t had Messi at Barca in a two team league , or gone it the biggest club in Germany , or the wealthiest club in Britain . What might have happened if he’d been at Athletico Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt or gone to Leeds , would he be considered great .
When he leave you basically he’ll want to succeed in France and Italy , he’d only go to PSG and Juve
Seeing as you seem to know what he is thinking, what is he having for tea?

What if potch could actually win anything with a team of talented players? you should be wondering about that really

I can only really comment on City managers, because they are the ones I’ve watched at close quarters throughout their tenures. Obviously you see the way the team play but also you see the interviews, the way fringe players are treated, the subs, the tactical changes, the morale in the squad...everything.

Pep is ten times as good as anybody we have ever had.

Yes he is superb. I often get worried he may move to pastures new I’ve no idea who could take his place.
Nobody will be able take his place, we might well get a new coach but we will be far worse off no matter who it’s going to be.

Pep's the best ever at motivating people... He's outdone ferguson because he has a layer of tactical genius and football knowledge too.

This argument about him only doing it with money is bollocks... Leaders of men don't need money. He could do the same relatively with any bunch of players.
I agree, in terms of playing philosophy, but to do it, and win titles at elite level, requires money & lots of it, because of the quality of players required. Pep’s admitted that himself.

Yep, and what if he’d have been born a woman - what then?

Yes. Good luck getting any bitter rivals to admit it though. Sadly, you’d have got more people agreeing with you in this country before he came to city than after he smashed virtually every record worth having in this country.

Barca finished third the season before he had taken over?

He managed the B side successfully. He took over and purged the team of big names: Ronaldinho, Eto, Deco etc. He then implemented new players among established players. Xavi and Iniesta were world class prior, yes, however he took them to legendary status. The vision, coupled with the massive cajones, to shake Barca up like he did was impressive.

He redefined modern football, such that he has now set the footballing stylistic narrative that everyone attempts to play. That Spanish national team of 2008-2012 was practically instilled under Pep’s vision.

He took Bayern up multiple levels domestically and changed their style. He was unlucky in the Cl, which is expected given it’s a knock out cup competition.

He’s also taken City to a whole new level, improving average players in to very good players and good players are becoming great players. He has shown English football that ‘tika-taka’ does work here in the U.K.
