I think if the club pays it - it attracts VAT but not if the player pays it... there’s certainly a tax reason why the player makes the payment in Spain.
Think it's a contract thing the release clause is actually a buy out for the player to buy out his own contract different to a release clause in say Portugal or France. The tax thing is it used to be seen as the player getting an income and then deciding to spend it on his buyout. That's why Spanish buyouts turned out more expensive that agreeing a fee with the club. Think the tax thing has now changed though.

I hesitate to post this as the moment I press send it’ll change track...but there’s a Citation biz jet, from Madrid, northbound at 43,000ft over Brittany that looks promising :)
Are we sure he's not coming by tram after staying at a Premier Inn in Oldham?

Seriously if it's that close I assume he'd be here already & had his media stuff done which usually is leaked on here.

This is such an interesting deal, I think it's been going in so long and weve needed another deep midfielder for so long that it's gone under the radar a bit how significant it could be.

The #6 position is so important to Pep's sides, and Rodrigo is such a different type of player to Fernandinho that this transfer has the potential to really change the team and the style of play.

Especially considering hes likely going to start for us in August while Fern recovers from his injury/copa America.
