Rodrigo Hernandez - Atletico confirm deal - p192

Like I have said, there's a palpable lack of understanding with football in the Primera Liga - particularly when it comes to club loyalty and coming up through the academy.

As for Rodri, if he had no loyalty or respect he would've conveyed his decision the moment City made their interest known - that was not the case.
And how would you know that?! I just think you have a lack of understanding of the real world. Football is a business and players have short careers. Players go to the clubs that make to most sense. Carragher was a massive Everton fan but is a Liverpool legend no place for loyalty in football anymore. Half the Spanish league jumps to any other league that offers them better wages.

Interesting bit below

Often when a club is set to pay a player’s release clause in Spain, they don’t actually pay the clause by force. An agreement if often made so it’s more amicable and good natured, this time Atletico clearly haven’t been up for that.

Sport say there was no possibility of negotiating with Atletico, so City had to do things the hostile way.

Diego Simeone is said to have worked until the last minute to convince his midfielder that he’d be better staying at the Madrid club, but he had his heart set on a move to Manchester City and playing for Pep Guardiola.

So much for loyalty ;) as was being said on here
