Kids sweets section..packet of pretend cigarettes where one end of the stick was coloured red like a glowing cig. Also the pretend tobacco in the kids sweets section. Was it called Spanish Gold?

Used to split into 3 trains at Edinburgh...Inverness, Aberdeen and Fort William. I stayed on the Inverness one. Appalling journey.

1 cal cans of pop. My mum worked for RHM, the company that sold them. We always got loads of freebie cans

Why was it so bad?

Sleep was near impossible. Every set of points you were shaken about, plus the noise. The bar car was left unmanned with full room of people getting angry with zero service...when chalked, we were told the bloke had gone for a bath...eh? Breakfast was a wrapped muffin of indeterminate constituency. Awful service. I defy anyone to sleep on the rickety old thing.
