And 74% of those who would vote Labour think it was a mistake to leave the EU. Trying to placate the (Leave-voting) Leave voters in a minority of Labour-held constituencies hasnt worked - and in the process they've lost an awful lot of Remainers - some of whom will not come back even if Brexit is decided.Apparently,Labour's poll rating of 18% is the lowest ever for an opposition, Corbyn's ratings are minus 58%,
the worst in history for an opposition leader. The 'Oh, Jeremy Corbyn' chants were very sparse at Glasto,
only 43% who voted Labour would do so again, and the membership is declining, all only polls of course, but
even so, it's some fall. The Tories, believe it or not climbed 1 point above Brexit, Labour is 4th in the list behind
the Libs. Then, there are apparently only 25% of remainers who would back Labour, most have obviously switched to the Libs,
leavers backing Labour, unsurprisingly are at just 8%.
Anyone got any thoughts on a GE result, if there is one?
You want a socialist EU. He thinks that means you must want something like the USSR.Its the Soviet Union bit I don't get, the fascists disturb me of course, but yes they are over egged
Are you incapable of understanding plain English? What are you wittering on about with Soviet Union and Third Reich?
My point is that what he wants isn't what he'll get.You want a socialist EU. He thinks that means you must want something like the USSR.
That would get a Brexit Party led UK to ditch Brexit in an instant.Despite their rise being checked in some countries at the last EU elections the right wing parties of Gauland, Le Penn, Salvini, Strache, Ortega Smith, Orban, Akesson, Hallaho, Helme, Janez etc etc make a Federal Republic of Europe less likely to resemble the Soviet Union than the Third Reich.

History is the only rational guide to the future. What has actually happened in countries with Marxist programmes and in other countries as a response to them. What you think should have happened, or still could, without taking honest account of historical realities is irrelevant. As is parroting words out of context in a meaningless question - your mind seems firmly closed and you appear to be unable to engage in reasonable dialogue.
What are you wittering on about?
As for "plain English", that post isn't it.

Give him a break! That's as close to it as he gets.

My guide and mentor of forty years in public service would be disappointed with that post and you have admonished me correctly if ungraciously.
I will try to improve.
I'm a Fowler's man myself (albeit the edition revised by Gowers).![]()

I gave up trying to be gracious on this forum long ago. I remain your obedient servant....

If the election is in the next few months, Johnson becomes PM and continues to promote No Deal, then the the Brexit Party will be wiped out. The Tories will take all of the Leaver vote and should climb to the 35-40% range, depending on how many times and how badly Johnson puts his foot in it.
The SNP will probably take nearly all of the Scottish seats. It then comes down to whether Labour can prevent a Lib Dems resurgence. Whether or not Labour can put forward a coherent Brexit policy.
It seems that Labour have spent the last two years struggling to agree a policy for responding to a Tory Brexit. If there's a general election their problems will be compounded. They'll have to put forward a policy on the basis that they're in power. Would they commit to a confirmatory referendum of a Labour Brexit, or does that just apply to a Tory Brexit? What would be the basis of any Labour re-negotiation of the WA? If they managed to re-negotiate the WA would Corbyn then lead the Leave campaign in a confirmatory referendum?
What would the options be in any referendum?
Now I am ever more confused. Are you incapable of understanding plain English?

That's exactly my question to you, it's a failed ideology and you are promoting its adherents in the Labour Party and their dishonest message. Now I am ever more confused.
Why are you talking about Marxism?
To sum up, Labour are fucked!
Looks like he's now offering some red meat to his friends in the north as well (and we all know where they live don't we Degsy?)McDonnell recently said that if he became Chancellor he would send Treasury civil servants on training courses to study alternative economic theories. I don't have a problem with him doing that, it might be a good idea.....
