We need a border just not a hard one. We need one like between Switzerland to France .

You mean a member of Schengen and implementing 90% of the EU rules and tarifs through bilateral agreements that the EU aren’t going to offer anybody else? We’d be better off staying in.

No I mean a border where sometimes they stop you and sometimes they don’t.

I know this as I go skiing and fly to Geneva and travel to France. There is a manned border and often they waive you through, but sometimes they stop you and check the vehicle and ask for papers.

And do you know why that is?

It’s because of the bilateral agreements between the Swiss Confederation and the EU. After all I only live in bloody Switzerland (Kanton Aargau, just west of Zürich) obviously the leavers know more than I do.

Trust me taking goods more than your customs allowance (like a control system, which i do for a living) is a major pain in the arse, you don’t want to go there.

The other 27 EU countries voted unanimously against reopening it.

I know . I am for up stumps and revoke article 50

I am just making the point about the Northern Ireland border issue being exaggerated. There isn’t even a sitting government in Northern Ireland controlled from London and yet......

The border between Swiss and France is all we need.

Have read it, we will have a deal between us and the eu/ Ireland. It will probably end up with a soft border like the one between Swiss and France.

My point isn’t the border per se but the fact the hardest thing of the gfa was establishing stormont and that unfortunately has gone for now and the troubles have not returned

With all the infrastructure and checks that go with it.
Yeah.
Right.

On what terms or how will that be based, and how will it get around MFN?

Dublin said, in the last 24 hours, that NI will have to be separate from the Britain, when it comes to the checks and the border will be a sea border.

Do you favour that?

Well I am not Moses

Nope - IMO, any objective analysis = inevitable

FFS - just look how over a couple of decades it has become impossible to easily leave the EU - as proved by the last 3 years

Your position is fine - just, IMO, stop either lying to yourselves or deluding us all
I’m doing neither. Simply taking issue with your use of’inevitable’. Anyway, we have done it to death, let’s not fall out about it. I personally would have little issue with deeper integration with the EU. To me that would feel a damn sight healthier than the current direction of the UK.
