Thing is, he’s not as politically naive as she is so I don’t see him bringing the WA back unless he knows he’s going to win the vote. So if he can’t negotiate any changes I think he’ll make them anyway and get the WA passed. Then it’s over to the EU and if they refuse to move he’ll blame them for their intransigence, then he’ll be stopped by Parliament from leaving with no deal and put the blame on Remainers. Then he’ll use the anger and sense of betrayal this causes to win a majority in the GE that will follow.

I think its the fervent hope of Leavers that the EU collapses because that way Europe will mirror the mess they will create here and allow them to justify what happens. They need it to happen swiftly though so as to keep abreast with the decline here. Can't see it myself but its sad when victorious visions of sunny uplands are replaced with the desire to lay waste to a continent.

I'm beginning to think that Brexit happening or not happening has little influence on our final destination aboard HMS Great Britain and very few will be disembarking. Those who do will probably have enjoyed their tea a lot better on board.

No way is Johnson getting a working majority after a GE. Feelings are running strong on all sides. There will loads of tactical voting, and there will be a hung parliament imo.

Given he is being touted as the run away winner already then the Boris Effect is already happening as the Tories are 6 pts behind Labour in a Comres poll today. Maybe he isn't the guy who can save the Tories from Labour after all..................hmmmm

I disagree. Boris is a much better communicator than May and will muller Corbyn on the campaign trail. I also have my fingers crossed that the metropolitan champagne socialists will get their way and ditch their Northern Leave voters. I’m optimistic but understand the next election is tough to call and you could be right.

The scenario you paint will probably have a roughly net zero effect on the outcome. It will gain as many seats as it loses. It’s not totally out of the question that Johnson could lose his seat - although it’s not brimming with champagne socialists, it’s got plenty of metropolitan Tory remainers. It could be a close thing.

As I said, there’s going to be tactical voting from all sides.
