Away tickets

It’s the supporters clubs that do the most whoring .......
Using and Getting tickets and points for members who qualify who have no intention of going to the games, then passing them on to supporters who don’t qualify, at times supporters who are not actually members of there SC.
And funny enough it seems to be supporters club members (branch secretaries and in other high up positions in SC ) that seem to be the ones speaking for us none SC members via there position in City matters .
And funny enough again it seems there system of whoring has been left intact with these changes and even funnier there ticket allocation is untouched where as the regular fan now has a 5% less chance of getting a ticket

Having ranked SC members on the City matters is akin to having Gill on Uefa
Supporters clubs Self serving there own interests as usual

Again, not every club is like this tho. Those that are found to be doing this should be punished. My club is only small 30 or so members. We hold events at local pubs, host band and games nights which are advertise locally. We go out our way to improve and the name of our branch and city. The 1or2 tickets (that’s all we get) for games is a little bonus.

Your Seasoncard holder City Matters representative, ladies and gentleman. A huge supporter of the OSC's and the ones doing over those getting tickets with points......

Fair doos but the SC should be made to conform with the same criteria as every other fan .
Tickets going to only those who qualify and having the same checks and having to pick up tickets from ground .. owww and a % the 18 - 25 tickets taken out of there quota too..

I just have. I expect to be blocked.

I don't know what you've wrote but there's no need to abuse him if you have. 5% of the away allocation is going to fans who are lucky enough to watch a successful city but unlucky enough to only ever be able to go to the least popular away games (unlike those born in any other era) - and even then, they find out last minute. 5% is a really miniscule amount and all but 150 of those who feel they're entitled to go to every single City game will still get first dibs on tickets. Absolutely no need for the reaction this is getting for doing a difficult job. If you're gonna get abusive towards anyone, direct it towards Sorriano for the ever increasing corporate allocation at away games.

So the club has scrapped away points (except they were awarded today for west ham) but we are moving to a rolling system?

What will this rolling system involve? 20k fans all on equal point form home games?

Or will we get to the end of the season and then the club decides to give us the points anyway, but wasn't telling us. Sounds like PB has given the game away.

He's there to represent us and he is only representing his own self interest. It should be 5% of the overall amount of tickets - it's only one party facing the burden. If it's a miniscule amount how come it can't come of corporate allocation which is already double what United, Liverpool etc give to their corporate clients?

Theses cm reps are all Sc officials who have ringfences there Sc allocation and the way they operate whilst taking away 5% of tickets from the general fan all the while pretending to speak for the general fan ... why should ppl not be pisses off at this , the clubs misgivings on how they screw tickets from us dose not change the fact that members of Sc have been slowed to stitched the everyday fan up, even if it just by 5%
The club should have used this overhaul to address The way the Sc get tickets and how they allocate them instead the normal fan loses out again .

No abuse whatsoever. In fact he called me self entitled because I'm not one of his sheep. Not a great look for my "representative".

im struggling to see the big fuss about the collection of tickets as long as the club keep the amount collecting to a reasonable level. all collections will be dealt with by club staff at the ground so theres no travelling out of the way involved.

I said on here at least half a dozen times to the rep that it didn't quite seem right that the City Matters group was practically made up with supporter club members and the chairman too, to which he said it had no bearing on what decisions would be made.

Absoulte fuckin bollocks.

Just to point out that Kevin Parker is not the chairman of the supporters club, it's Alan Galley and he is NOT on the CM forum.

This whole issue is a difficult one. Sitting on 15k points I regularly miss out and seem to be getting further away from a lot of games and the fact that SC members with less points regularly get tickets annoys the hell out of me.
But we all know something needs to be done and I have no problem whatsoever with picking my ticket up at the ground. I’ve said many times before that I’ve done this with England aways for 15 years and it works fine. Forget the Celtic debacle, this can be done with ease if it’s done correctly.
It will be interesting to see what the take up will be for certain games that may have been bought by points whores. If it helps genuine fans further down the ladder then great but if they go to SC’s then clearly that isn’t right. It was clearly proven that it made a difference in European games when they implemented pick up, the number of points needed shot right down. After the club messed up at Celtic and reneged on the ticket pick up you saw the next game shoot right up in points again. It was obvious for everyone to see why.

Agreed on everything there
the reason Celtic went wrong was because with it being so close people didn't turn up in dribs and drabs so couldn't cope with the surge. i had no problems collecting in paris. plus this will only be a small amount collecting not the full allocation.

Last year at Spurs there was a large number of fans that had to collect tickets due to being moved by Spurs themselves. As far as I know this didn't cause a problem. Too much emphasis is being put on how collection of tickets is a huge problem. If they decided to have a random 5% of the allocation collect tickets which equates to 150 supporters is that really a bad thing. If the argument is that points whores are buying tickets to pass on then this will at least tackle that. Those that do buy tickets and pass on will now be forced to travel to the fixture if they get randomly selected or face a ban on buying tickets. This will intern free up more tickets for everyone as those on high points wont take the risk.

I'm unsure of these changes as a whole. I'm not convinced ticket collections will work logistically (Celtic away springs to mind). I'm not sure that removing ticket points for away games changes anything. I do, however, think that the 18-25 y/o allocation is a good idea. I think people with higher points get irritated that people with fewer ticket points qualify for tickets ahead of them in some cases, and I can understand that. Unfortunately, people aged 18-25 are too young to have accumulated the number of away games as those who're 35+. I don't think the younger generation of fans should be indirectly punished because they simply weren't old enough to start going when the ticket point system was introduced. I also feel that our away support has been getting worse in recent years. Whether or not this is to do with differences in expectation or not, I'm not sure. But I do think these younger fans are in the age bracket that would probably create more noise on the whole.

As a rule of thumb, I don't think we as fans should be blaming each other. We all want the same thing. Away tickets have only become an issue with the huge influx of corporate tickets. There are people complaining that a bunch of young lads (who all have season cards) are going to get 5% of the tickets, when 5 or 6x that amount are given out to corporates and sponsors. Even the supporters clubs get abuse and I'm sure there's good branches and bad branches, however they're going to people who contribute to a SC and who're making the effort to support City on the whole.

We need to change the focus from squabbling amongst ourselves about a tiny piece of the pie, to reclaiming that pie from businesses and wealthy people who use the club as a means to entertain their clients (who couldn't care less about our club).

I know for a fact we have supporters with boxes and corporate tickets who can get 10 tickets to any away game they want. That's why Old Trafford and Anfield sell out at such high points. All those people with those points are going to the less attractive games as well. It's the corporates who claim their tickets for the big games.

Blues this is turning into a bit of Lynch mob. We're all blues, let's not let this get ugly. It's a complicated subject, lots of people feel passionate about one system or the other.

In hindsight City should have canvassed opinion anonymously from all season card holders and made the decision themselves. That way if people are unhappy they vent their anger at the club not individual blues.
