VAR for this game plus new rules including:

Balls not having to leave the penalty area during goal-kicks
Players leaving the field at the nearest point upon substitution
Attacking players not allowed in a defensive wall
Non-contested drop ball procedure

Will be interesting to see how the first effects pressing of the opposition - defenders can be in the box but attackers have to be outside it - not sure whether this will be good or bad for us.
How will this be implemented ?

The lush green grass of the Wembley penalty areas will prove to much for whoever is up front for the dippers, they will be compelled to get down and inspect it at every opportunity tomorrow ,with Red Tyler fully supporting their actions !

Can't see Sane starting given what's happening with him now, his head probably won't be in the right place.

Can however see the dippers going out to hurt us and hurting themselves in the process, thanks to rushing players back. Expect an outcry of injustice Monday morning at them having lost a couple of players to injury due to fatigue or coming after one of ours with intent. Candles at the ready.

A magnificent addition to an already well-stocked trophy cabinet, or
A glorified corned-beef tin rubbish trophy of no interest to the European elite

Get ready for Monday morning’s brain washing.

Somebody said they were the first team to appear in this without winning a trophy.
City v Villa in 1972, City won

Derby won the league and Leeds won the FA Cup the previous season but both declined to play in the Charity Shield.

City had finished fourth and had won nowt the season before, played against Villa who were Third Division champions.

Fundamental difference, FA forced to abandon name by the Charity Commission - the League Cup is voluntarily sponsored.
It's still exactly the same competition, but with a different name. Entry criteria hasn't changed, format hasn't changed, neither has the trophy.
