All this crying about money, it's blatant they spent so much last year because they thought it would be enough to buy the title. It's pure frustration on their part they didn't win it and this is just getting excuses in early. If you stand still in football you fall back, all those close games they won with dodgy errors and cheating, they may not win this year because others have improved. I can't really take the views of a scouser in a knee length shell suit seriously, especially when he says they are following City's academy model but no copying it. The strange woman on the left also came out with praise for Liverpool selling the old training ground for social housing while local residents are up in arms about it. I’ve just moved house to another city in the USA and went to get breakfast this morning at a highly rated cafe just down the street from our new flat, wearing an older City shirt.

American girl (probably all of 22) asked if I was a Manchester City fan as she took my order. I resisted the urge to say “no, I wear this shirt ironically” and just answered yes and that I was from Manchester. She replied, gleefully, “Oh, that’s great! My roommate is from Liverpool!”

I immediately responded with a smirk and said “I’m sorry.” Without pausing for thought (or breathe)—and, like her roommate, likely not fully comprehending the joke I just made—she replied “Don’t be! Don’t be sorry! We just conquered Europe!”
