Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

He pulls a Sicky and that’s the end of him.

Its still a big risk if he doesn't sign with us, he's already losing money, and if (likely for me) bayern won't pay what we want, he's stuck here on a low (relatively) wage, but he'll still have to perform, and if he subsequently got a long term injury, its a serious issue.

He's got a few days to decide for me, he'll be selected this weekend if still here, starter or otherwise, so an injury (a risk for every player) and he's stuck here till January at least, not great for us, but terrible for him if he wants a move.

We have sterling, which means the team loses a lot of flexibility if he always has to play on the left. Gabby isn't very good from the wing and Mahrez / Bernardo are way better on the right. If Sane goes before the hammers game then either Aguero or gabby will need to be rushed back to start. Thinking outside the box, angelino could possibly play there but thats a big step down in quality from Sane, zinchenko is too slow, David is way past being capable on the wing (even though hes looking pretty quick as of late).

Edit: just thought, maybe Foden? would be interesting to see how he would go. If he could cover multiple positions he would get way more gametime too.

Honestly starting to wonder if Gabby J needs to be in a 2 striker formation and on that note I'm not sold that he can't produce from the wing. I know he has flashes at the 9, and I am pulling hard for him as I keep thinking one day the switch will flip and he shows that flash he is capable of consistently... that and finally gets his offsides timing down pat.

If Sane wasn't super quick he'd be average. Saying that however his speed is a devastating game changer and would take some replacing. I hate saying this but if we knew this was in the offing earlier we should have took a gamble on the lad James from Swansea who is also a sprinter pretending to be a footballer. It's not as if we didn't know he existed as he tore us to pieces during that cup tie.

Personally I'd not let him leave. Forget missing out on any prospective fee, just accept that we signed him for £37m and we get 5 years usage. In relative terms that's a cost of £7.4m a year and modest wages on top. In short even if he sees out his contract and leaves for nothing it will have been amongst the best £50-60 million we've ever spent.

Mahrez would do better on the left wing.At times playing on the right he does slow us down.For me,Sterling is far far better employed on the right wing but with our POTS Benie,who was superb,then maybe the answer is Sterling ?

Read some German media and Bayern forums. Not much optimism there, no one seems to know what's happening. Maybe there is quite a gap in our and theirs evaluations of Sane which makes the transfer not particularly likely right now. They should pay big money and seem reluctant to do it.

looking forward to the day when i don't have to read about Sane's future. Transfers happen all the time, nothing unusual, and i appreciate things are going on behind the scenes but surely letting it drag on this long is bad for the dressing room. Perhaps now the players are back together and the unrest will be more damaging to team spirit, someone in this transfer triangle will make a fucking decision and let us know. At least it has lifted my respect for Gareth Barry

I'd say it's his no1 asset and if he didn't have it he wouldn't even be at Zaha's technical level. He consistently get caught offside, which is effectively losing possession, whilst his finishing is not Mbape standard.

As I've said, he's rocket quick but without it the rest of his game is so so! In fact, have you ever seen him even head a ball?
