Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

Just look at his track record. Probably one of the reasons he was head-hunted by the Athletic is his reliable info.
I’ve never heard of The Athletic or the journo in question. Why would someone within the club pass info to a niche website that the mainstream consumer is unaware of ? And as for his track record, a stopped clock is right twice a day.

It's already been dismissed that Sam Lee was talking bollocks. Tolmie said no such thing had happened.

Not a good way to start your new job with the Atlantic writing a bullshit article.
Oh, well if Tolmie said it it must be true then.

Sam Lee has been a reliable source for years; obviously he could have bad info on this but if we're being honest it really doesn't take much of a leap to think Sane would actually want to go to Germany considering that, you know, his representatives have been at best speaking to Bayern and at worst trying to engineer a move there for several months now.

Good point that actually.

They would have perhaps been concerned about looking like complete tools had they failed to sign Sané after all the bluster. (Largely because they are complete tools of course, but never mind).

But they now have an out, "Ah, we don't want him now anyway". Sané's hopefully minor knock could have proved to be quite useful when the dust settles.

But they will look bigger cûnts when Leroy plays next week (hopefully )

For ? If it’s to disseminate information then it’s not working cos nobody’s heard of them

I'm not sure why you are equating you not knowing Sam Lee or The Athletic, with no one knowing them.

While it's a newish model, The Athletic have recruited heavily, including Daniel Taylor, Ed Maylon, David Ornstein, Oliver Kay, Honigstein etc taking chief sports correspondents, editors, national & local journalists from BBC, Times, Guardian, Telegraph, Mail, Goal, Sun etc. Fair enough if this is the first time you have heard of them, but they have made quite a big splash

Leroy Sané still has fluid in his knee which delayed a precise diagnosis and made it difficult. Bayern’s team doctor, Peter Ueblacker, was spotted explaining the injury to Hasan Salihamidžić yesterday. There are fears the deal might still collapse. [@SPORTBILD via @iMiaSanMia]

What's it to them, we ask.

They are heavily invested in helping bayern, they said it was done then he wouldn't even be at the game let alone play, they are looking more stupid by the day
The entire media landscape in Germany has been working together to "write" Leroy to Bayern. Bild, Kicker, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Der Spiegel, Transfermarkt.de and every TV pundit and ex Bayern player has been campaigning together for months to make this happen. I find it pretty amazing how all these entities seemingly work together to serve the interest of a single Bundesliga club.

Simples...give him a tap on the ankle...sorted...I’ll get my coat..

We could build a sugar shack and make Sané Syrup to sell in order to recoup some of the cost of the Rodri/Cancelo transfers for FFP.

I’ll get my bigger coat.
Is that you Mr Wenger?

When I say no one I mean your average sports fan. I’m no media expert but,as much as the next guy, when work’s quiet I’ll trawl through most of the broadsheets online and have a skim through the red tops, have a look at sky and the bbc, read forums of sports I’m really into etc etc. So on that basis it seems to me as though this website is very niche but I’m not here to decry The Athletic, just the notion that a guy who’s been recruited by them has any more credibility than any other journo. Of the ones you mentioned I have Taylor down as a pretentious wanker, Kay is ok, Honigstein mediocre - does he offer great insight or is he merely conveniently bi lingual.

Also the rest of the league seem to bend over and take it from them, letting their players run down their contracts so bayern get get them cheap or free,it's a really unhealthy set up over there

Sane coming back to the Bundesliga helps them all i suppose, an exciting player who people will tune in to watch and may stay when seeing the other teams. The German transfer window doesn't close until Sept 2nd, it will be crazy if we sell him without the chance of buying anyone but i think that is a distinct reality.

As someone else has said, the runner is reliant on the passer releasing the ball before he is offside.
Yeah obviously but what i am saying is that a player with blistering pace doesn't have to play close to the line, he can make it very easy for a passer to play him in even allowing for any delay on their part.
