If you're (let's say) one of the best steeplejacks in the country and you were approached by the boss of a rival firm with a better offer to work for him, and when your boss finds out, he then makes you an offer you can't refuse to stay working for him. But since then you've fallen off a ladder and broke your leg. Will your boss still offer more money when you're off on the sick on full pay with a broken leg? You may never regain fitness to do the job you did before breaking your leg. You may not even climb again. This analogy is hypothetical of course, but in Leroy's case, he's on a reputed 60-65k per week whilst being injured. Not bad is it?

I think the club will wait and see how his injury transpires to full recovery before offering a lucrative long term contract.
It depends......

..would I get to have my own ladder if I came back

I would offer him a contract and tell him (not a release clause) that if Bayern or a foreign club come in with an acceptable offer and he still wants to leave, we will sell him.

Pep says he doesnt want a player who wants to go, so whether he's got 2 years left on his deal or 4, I think we would sell him for an acceptable price if he genuinely wanted to go.

That way Leroy gets his bigger salary while he recovers and we get €150m+ if we sell next summer or any other summer and it just takes away any time pressure with his contract running down.

With this type of injury you always have the ‘he’ll be back for the business end of the season’ hopes but the reality is that doesn’t happen.

The best you can realistically hope for is a couple of sub appearances before the season ends and a full summer of getting ready for the following season. That means we will only see what Leroy (if he’s still here) is capable of doing in 2020-21 season. On that basis I’d say offering a new five year deal on three times his current wages is a non starter.

I dint think they're expecting a full 9 month injury. The German papers said it would be until the end of 2019 and given they had the info earlier than everyone else I guess they know something.

I hope that’s the case but we’ve been here before with reassurances that an injury isn’t so serious and then it turns out it is.

Let’s see.

Pep Guardiola on Leroy Sane's return from injury: "I don't know. I'm not a physio. These kind of injuries are 6-7 months. Hopefully around February he can be back with us."

"I didn’t think he was leaving. He didn’t tell me he wanted to leave, he played the pre-season and he played in the final. Unfortunately it’s incredibly bad news because in three seasons we have had three ACLs."

Can’t believe how unlucky we are with injuries. Seems like every season we have at least one player who is out for 6+ months

Would angelino be good in this position? RW?
Sorry. i meant LW. I dunno i think that Pep wanted Angelino knowing that there is a high chance that Sane will leave so he could cover both LB and LW with him. In case Mendy would still be crocked. Btw what s the news about Mendy? Is he training with the squad?

Maybe in the past, but with modern science 100% recovery is much more common and he has youth on his side. Will be interesting to see if the Ox comes back the same his injury was much more severe and he also relies on his pace and dribbling. Aslong as Sane isn't rushed back which i doubt he will be he'll be okay.
Hope so , we'll see.

I don't understand why people are ignoring that & going on mainly about money.

Bayern's offer to Sane, will be " Come & be our main player & star of the German team ". City's offer is "Stay because you have a lot of potential & we might play you, but only if you do as you are told".

But he still hasn't asked for a move, which means he really likes it at City.

He can play regularly at City if he performs consistently at the level he is capable of and works hard on the field like the rest of his team mates do. Do that and he can be the biggest star in the biggest league and as part of what may well be the best team in the world. And he can do that and be the star of the German national side; whilst earning enough money to be able to retire to a life of luxury when he stops playing.

The choice is his.

next time i hear a dipper complaining about fernandinho's tactical fouls, i might ask if they'd rather one of our players had hobbled salah or firmino for the first two thirds of the season. hopefully that'll put things in perspective.

Bayern Munich reached an agreement with Leroy Sané, and the deal was on the verge of being completed last weekend. Bayern bosses were hoping Sané wouldn't play against Liverpool, but Pep Guardiola spoke a word of power and decided to play him. [@SPORTBILD via @iMiaSanMia]
At the moment, Bayern remain undecided whether to pursue or pull out of the deal to sign Sané. [@SPORTBILD via @iMiaSanMia]

Let it go boys, you were wrong all along
