Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

Txiki would of course tell pep. But pep would still be able to say that Leroy hadn’t told him that he wanted to go. And saying that he has to ask to leave might mean that he has to do more than ask his mum to tell Txiki.

I’m not saying that’s what has happened, just that it seems normal for transfers to be conducted one step removed so that the player and manager can deny it right up to the last minute
Don't disagree really,we have no info on what was or wasn't said, the german press has put out all sorts but all we have is what pep said really,i'm sure everyone didn't want this to overshadow the new season but it's going to rumble on,the footy will be a welcome distraction,it's been like brexit lol

Wanting to go and choosing to go if given the opportunity aren’t the same.players that want to leave will ask and agitate. My guess is Sane is relatively happy with us, but if Bayern had made an acceptable offer and he was given a choice he’d have chosen Bayern.
What happens now though is anyones guess.

If he is given a choice, it means we are ok letting him go, so he'd be right to choose Bayern.

But he has got it easy, if he wants to leave. All he had to do, was tell Pep & we would have put him on the market without him having to ask for a transfer. And looked for a replacement.

City selling him close to the transfer window, was not going to happen, as shown by him playing at Wembley.

Contracts, of course protect both club and player. Leroy seems to have two choices now: continue with his current contract on relatively low wages, see out his contract and hope that BM or another will give him a bumper deal. Players with ACL problems rarely get stunning deals. A 5 year deal on mega money seems much less likely this week than last. Alternatively, he can sign up to the offer made by City. If he does that then the club takes all the risk that he doesn’t recover well and returns a lesser or injury prone player. A tough choice for a young player.
This all day long.
The deal City have offered him is probably as good as any will offer him post ACL injury.
It depends on how much he wants to gamble I guess....

These last few months of bidding fuck all ?

Telling people they were signing him for Lukaku money ?

It's called tapping up.
I think we have crossed wires. You seemed to be suggesting he wouldn't have simply considered Bayern if he wanted to leave (apologies if I have that wrong). I was simply saying they were the only ones in town these last few months.

Seem strange that Bayerns interests hits todays press. Wooda cudda shudda, springs to mind, but hey ho. For the record I want Leroy to stay.

Exactly.

He obviously wants to play, at his age, so any of us, in his position, would not sign a new deal unless we got in the team. So no way would we tell any top team to fuck off, if they were interested, we would do exactly what he has done; keep our options open.

He has two years on his contract. This injury could mean either him signing for security, or seeing his contract out.
It is was me , i'd have sorted it out earlier, but then i'm kinda direct, what you see is what you get.

Depends on the severity.
I've had a meniscus tear and I was back running in 6 weeks, ACL is more severe.
I'd say a minimum of 4 months and a range of 4 to 6 months at it's worst.
What gives me some hope is that he walked up the stairs at Wembley but that was horrific from our medical staff to allow that to happen.
Cheers

I don't believe they have been 'in town' I think they are just causing trouble with no intention whatsoever of bidding.

They are trying to unsettle him, to put in a transfer request imo.

This injury, may have helped them as he may go into his last year, still not knowing where he stands.
