Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

VAR aside, we had 30 attempts, 30! scored 2 goals and were sucker punched as per by spurs (who have a habit of doing that to us). Completely annihilated them yet have litte to show for it.

I'm still slightly worried about our vulnerability at the back. As good as we are going forward, defensive lapses will punish us if we don't put away chances.

I love Eddie but he was shite yesterday. We have an incredible team but we are definatly missing a real dominant person in the air at the back. Would vinny have stopped the secon goal? I would imagine so.

Infuriating VAR “review” aside (I know, very difficult to do), this showed what we should expect from the officials for the rest of the season for me.

Brace yourself, lads and lasses, it’s going to be a long road full of road blocks and land mines, anything to stop our forward progress.

Incredible

Agreed. And not to mention the fact that it allows for rampant cheating by officials who can deem that a ball touched a players arm whether it did or not. Whereas if it has to obvious with some kind of control or change of trajectory, they cannot cheat so easily.

To be honest, mate, I don't believe that Oliver had it in for us, and I'll never subscribe to the view that certain referees have it in for us. Call me naive if you want, but if that were the case, then after more than fifty years, I'd certainly stop watching football. I mean that.
No, the law as it stands is utterly cretinous, as is the current offside law. Everybody (us, dippers, rags, whoever) will be in a rage before the season's out. I guarantee it.

what to say about this really? Is there any fucking man in the world that thought it was foul against Rose here? It's just fucking unbelievable.

I'm not saying Oliver had it in for us.

Most officials will no doubt be fair and honest, I am sure of that. I am also sure that not all of them are, and VAR has just opened up a whole new raft of opportunities for them.

Some clarity for Sunday after spending the last 16 or so hours raging about the result.

We are on the same points haul at this point when we won the league by a 100 points.

Enjoy the Sunday and let’s look forward to destroying Bournemouth.
and we had been ripped off by a shit ref sending walker off. and everton scored with their only shot so very similar

Bernardo...Tactical Fouler Extraordinaire! He almost took Rose’s elbow off! That could have easily been a yellow card!

Incredible

When it comes to officiating our games, Oliver is a cheat. He was okay when he first burst onto the scene but since the year we were challenged by Utd, and he bottled that 100% nailed on Fulham (i think) penalty at Old Trafford, he has always been poor for us. His team (linesmen) are just as bad, they had the Pool game last week when they ignored the new rules and instantly put up the flag when Norwich broke, often the wrong decision , instead of letting play continue. Last season when we won at Brighton, he allowed the foul for their goal to stand, and lets not forget his performance, denying Arsenal blatant penalties at Anfield and giving Pool then for dives in the same game. When we are appointed him for our games, you just know any touch by us is a foul and any fouls on us are going to be ignored.

That Bernardo “foul” is such a poor decision, there would literally not have been one person watching who thought it was a foul ..... except the ref.

Unless....he’s a fucking cheat. I know which one my money is on.

Great post.

Unfortunately, this I think just further highlights how **** VAR has been for us in particular, as I can tell you I didn’t feel this contemplative about the future of my relationship with football itself (for lack of a better way of putting it) during this time in the Centurion season.

Yes, I was frustrated with match results... but I wasn’t assessing whether football, and my enjoyment of watching (rather than just playing), was on the path to ruin.

That, for me at least, is the biggest takeaway.

The more you watch this the worse the decision looks, looks more like a corrupt decision than just a wrong one, struggling to see what oliver has seen to deem it a foul!
