Looks like the government is planning to spend £100m on a media campaign to rebut the leaked Operation Yellowhammer information. Apparently there might be a few "bumps in the road" but we don't need to worry about No Deal if we all put our minds to it.
Phew, that's alright then.
The yellowhammer stuff is relatively old - end of 2018/ early 2019 so not sure why it's such a revelation or anyone needs to rebut the info. People just need to understand it describes what could happen, not what will happen.

Indeed - certainty is needed

If we cannot get certainty through a deal - we will have to leave with no-deal - the uncertainty cannot continue
So we leave. That would certainly be bad. So would the ongoing uncertainty about trade deals - years and years of never-ending palaver.

I'm not sure what a hard line remainer is tbh. Remain is maintaining the status quo. Most Remainers, including myself, accepted the vote in 2016 and awaited a withdrawal agreement that did the least damage to the economy. The one that was presented achieved what many thought was impossible - it was unacceptable to pretty much everyone right across the political spectrum. After that the logical outcome should have been a second referendum to determine whether we leave with no deal or whether we maintain the status quo. There was certainly no mandate for crashing the country out of the EU without a withdrawal agreement, which would consequentially breach a number of international agreements such as the GFA. If anyone can find a statement made by a leading Brexiter in the run up to the referendum that this was a possible outcome I'd like to see it. In fact they all said the complete opposite.
Nice try. I've been asking that for weeks! I even gave them a hint. Either leavers are in a google-free world or there's nothing to be found.

That would be nice :))

LEXIT, is the left wing approach to leaving the EU as championed once upon a time by the likes of Tony Benn. It basically sees the EU as a capitalist club formed to help spread neo=liberalism and its protectionist outlook denies the right of the UK to enact Socialist policies such as nationalism and state aid for industry. Benn thought the EU did not match his five measures of what constitutes a Democracy which are

1/ What power have you got
2/ Where did you get it from
3/ In whose interests do you exercise it
4/ To whom are you accountable
5/ How can we get rid of you

In my opinion they are pretty powerful questions that always need to be answered in a democracy.
They were questions for anyone with power.
Apply them to Johnson now.

Wow - when you apply those measures to the EU...………...
What powers? Those in the treaty you all signed.

Where did you get those powers? The treaty.

On whose behalf? The member states and their citizens.

To whom accountable? The Parliament elected by those citizens.

Get rid of you? It's a club. You didn't have to join.

Now, Johnson....

What an utterly absurd waste of money.

For fuck sake opposition, hurry up and rid us of these cunts.

@Rascal

Pretty simple when someone can answer it

Or halfway up and still not dumped the dead weight. All depends on your in perspective I suppose.
Halfway up what? The creek without a paddle?

Seriously - you think the stats are appalling but the remedy is just to carry on?

That must be heart rather than mind.

Credit for accepting it's Brexit wot's done it. Too many are wildly whatabouting about how it's all down to electric cars.

Not sure the other cunts will get their act together in time to oust the existing cunts. The problem being not only party politics but that all the parties seem to be divided along brexit/ remain faultlines with the exception of brexit party and lib dems. Sadly the lib dems cant work out if they dislike brexit more than corbyn.

You do realise brexit hasn't happened yet don't you?

More importantly will our EU players (and Management) have to apply for settled status after 31st October?
Could this be refused?
Priti seems to be intent on ending FOM on 31st October with no transition arrangements.
Will the players be allowed back in after an away CL game or visits back home?
Any experts out there?
Need to know now.
This is getting serious!

I’m so disappointed in the Libs for it too.

Just stop no deal and go to a GE.

Let’s hope they are not out of the country on 31/10.

I agree, it was a cop out. My preference was never on the ballot paper. I want a fully federal EU with an elected President, EU armed forces, pan-European political parties and a system of regional parliaments based on local requirements, a proper EU central bank, harmonised tax rates and a proper written constitution. Remain never offered that, leave is regressive and I would have voted for leave if it wasn't for Farage. I really do believe that if Farage wasn't involved leave would have won comfortably.
Look on the bright side - if we do not leave now then you will get your preferred outcome;-)

Parliament won't accept no deal, despite BoJo's bluster, so that ain't happening. I don't see any other outcome other than Parliament just deciding not to leave. It'll anger a large portion of the electorate, but I doubt they care about that.
Sadly, I think that you are spot on

What deal are the no to no deal MP's going to agree to when they tell us every day that the EU wont negotiate a new deal and the only deal available most of them said no to?
