You say that, but people often tend to question why I don't wish to be seen as "European".
In my experience, it is not okay to dismiss Europe, but is wholly acceptible to dismiss America, almost as if it's not allowed. It's these double standards I disagree with. If you disagree with my notion of not being European and more aligned with America, that's fine, you're not a fan of American culture and I am, but then there's also no need to bring it up then, is there.
Can't win with you MB.
If I recall it was merely a remark in answer to this from you;
The world is going to become globally connected, why should the emphasis be "European"?
I said I'd prefer it to Chinese or American.
If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine too.

Because you share a land border and a peace treaty with one specific member of the EU and they hold a veto on that deal?
We share a 'land' border with France as well. It's very narrow, mind.

The EU will negotiate on your behalf and for your benefit. Are poles not allowed a say on whether they can cross the Ire/NI border uninhibited? We must think of ALL EU citizens in this case.

Same here, but i'm also realistic that whilst we continue to fund these "projects", there are still people living here that are not enjoying the same lifestyle as others currently do.

I simpyl don't see how the UK being at the forefront for all the political disputes between nations, because it's clinging to it's sense of "relevancy", being backed up by an EU that also wants "relevancy", especially in the face of Russia, China and US, is in my opinion an outdated concept.

This is why I want our relationship with Europe to be first and foremost, economic, not political, and recent language coming from MEP's from the continent suggests that they are not happy with our current setup and demand more involvement from the UK towards their project.

We fund projects but our net benefit is +4% GDP.

I totally disagree it’s outdated, globalisation is very much the present and future.

And the EU has been negotiating on your behalf. Just as it did with the Canada deal, Japan deal and Brazil deal.

And in this case Ireland is the single most important member you need on side therefore you put in the time and energy to get them on side. The EU may do all the nuts and bolts of the negotiations but the ultimate decision is taken by the E27 member states. Get Ireland on side and the U.K. would be halfway home to a decent outcome. Alternatively spend three years burning all trust and goodwill and you end up where we are today. On the verge of a giant arsefucking.

EU is not globalisation. It's a centralised bloc asking the world to conform to IT'S rules.

Apparently Ireland ARE on our side. So...?

The Poles get a say, they have a seat on the commission. We're the only ones with a veto though, so you should have spoken to us.

A centralised bloc that has free movement and trade agreements with other continents.

The EU doesn’t just deal with the EU you know?
And it expects others to conform to the EU's standards, not the other way around.

We've had this discussion and didn't agree back then either.

It's so depressing to think that Brexit 'discussions' will continue for the foreseeable future.

Whether we remain or leave, whether it's a hard Brexit or not, there's going to be different people pedalling their own agendas for years. I'm absolutely sick of it all now.

You lot voted for it, imagine how we're feeling.
