Just to be clear,I'm only saying what I think, not stating it as a fact. It's pretty funny that everyone in the UK is getting their knickers in a twist about 'no deal' apparently. It'll be even more funny to see the mental gymnastics performed by the same if BJ comes back with one.

It’ll be funny when it’s Mays deal in a clever disguise, will it be clever enough to fool the ERG and DUP is the question.

Yeah the DUP are notorious funsters. Getting a deal out of the EU is the easy bit. We already have one. Getting it through Parliament is the tricky bit.

Because that's not their political status.

It would be interesting to see if people's views changed if headlines would have read '50 people saved in the Mediterranean' - I wonder how many people would be keen to let 'people' drown? Not many I suspect but 'immigrants' they can because 'they' are the 'other' . Like German Jews fleeing Nazi Germany to come and live here were called 'aliens' in the national press. 'People' fleeing the Nazi's, everyone is for that but 'aliens'? Oh no, send them back

It is a thoughts experiment, nothing more

Godwin's Law? So soon?

No problem.
I’m fundamentally against no deal on all levels.
We have a mandate to leave with a deal and that’s what we must do, or we go to another referendum.
The backstop doesn't allow for us to leave the single market or customs union as a complete nation. Hence the current deal is not what the country mandated the government to agree. If no genuine Brexit can be negotiated and No Deal is the only other option we are far better off staying inside on current terms for now and finding another non-Article 50 route out later.

Actually the current one does, provided alternative solutions have been found.

Thought experiment.
It is not a discussion in which the Nazi's were brought into, it is an example(a real one) where people have been othered
And there were no other examples you could have used?

You relate the current situation to that of the Jews fleeing Nazi Germany? Really?

My point, which I am pretty sure you know, is that even in the most extreme and justified circumstances people can be othered

It was that or Bosnians fleeing Yugoslavia, they're the two most recent displacements of people on that scale. Could possibly have gone back to the famine and the "no blacks, no dogs, no Irish" signs if you'd prefer that?

No the BP won’t become irrelevant. The WA is seen as a betrayal of Brexit. It’s ‘vassalage’ as we remain within the EU area during transition and accept EU rules without any say. Hardcore ERG Tories say the same thing. Pass the WA and BP will campaign on ‘you can’t trust a Tory’. LibDems will campaign on the same thing as ‘this is worse than remaining’.

So who in Parliament is going to vote for the WA tweaked or otherwise? The DUP? Nope. ERG Tories? No chance. A handful of northern Labour MPs may back a right wing Johnson Govt but on the whole they hate Johnson more than they did May. This Govt has no effective majority so how the hell is it going to pass anything let alone the WA?

Is correct.

The only thing Johnson will be passing is wind.

I'm not "prefering" anything. I'm not the one making the ridiculous comparison!
I shake my head any more at this post and i'll get neckache.
