so why pick them in the first place ???? if you are going to pick ODI big hitters don't ask them to play test style cricket ??
sometimes just let them play their own style and smash the shirt out of the ball, they say if your going to swing the bat swing it hard ?? and if it takes the edge it will fly over the slips in a way its better than just being a sitting duck. the trouble is lake of planning by the ECB for the ashes and its not just this years ashes it was also the the last one downunder as well,
ODI world cup was number 1 by the ECB and anything else was just left to do its own thing by mixing the 3 other codes to knock up a team for the ashes, and how can you ask roy or butler stokes to not hit he ball out of the park ???? am not buying into this white ball over red ball cricket is different game ?? the trouble start when you start to do something that is not your game, like i said just let them do what they do best, white or red ball you have to hit the the bloody thing and if your games is to open up then do what your do best
we have seen in the past the big hitter in test cricket can be a part of test cricket and you have to let them play their own game, but its the foundations of this squad and lack of test cricket that is the problem, the setup is wrong and the batting order is a mess and the opening pair and root coming in at 3, they need to score runs or bat for a long time and the rest can settle into the game and take the pressure off the big hitters getting runs
the ECB need to be shot and a new setup from the people in the game that love cricket and test cricket be aloud to sort this mess out, coaches manager captain players everything needs to be cleaned out
