Amonst other things, he's not a king and cannot be no matter how much he pretends. He's a PM with a majority of 1 i.e himself

My post wasn't entirely serious. But here's another scaremonger:

So have Parliament avoid No Deal then... oop, Labour voted against the WA.

So the Order says Parliament will be prorogued 9th Sept at the earliest or 14th at the latest. Who chooses that?
Under the Fixed Term Parliaments Act there could be a vote of no confidence before prorogation and the 14 days limit to get a vote of confidence would fall during prorogation.

I can't see anything in the Act to say that the time limit would not apply during prorogation so on the face of it, if Parliament can't pass a vote of confidence because it's prorogued, there would then have to be a general election.

M'learned friends may know different ...

He wants a GE but doesn't actually want to call it, as it will be seen as a sign of defeat. So he gets parliament to make him do it.

I can see it being called within the next week, or so.

Is Owen Jones really talking about Operation Overlord and connecting it to today's events?

"They fought for this!" No, they fought to protect their families from invasion by a hostile force.

I’m rooting for killed.

King all the way - even for a day if he calls the bluff of so many people now wanting to teach Brexit voters a "lesson" - even at the expense of the entire country.

No guts, no glory.

Boris is fine by me, but then I am a right-wing racist French hating pleb ;)

I am still at a loss as to how we take back control of our borders if we don't have one? How do we stop all these undesirables entering our country? Form an orderly queue here please - not likely I can just walk across.

I demand a hard-border. I don't want these EU citizens waltzing into out sunny uplands unchecked......

So, they’re saying WTO and no tariffs? So, as they can’t give preferential rates, that’ll be no tariffs to any other country in the world, including all the EU members.

Not much incentive for anyone signing a trade deal with us in that case as we don’t seem to have much to offer (except for visas of course), which probably wasn’t what every leaver voted for..

Pretty much. Which is why the Canada talks stalled. Also NI businesses will have tariffs levied on their goods sold in RoI but competing businesses in RoI exporting to NI not so much. Also if you create a tariff differential between zones you encourage smuggling and the bigger the differential the greater the smuggling. Advertise that you will be doing no checks and well you can guess the rest.

Or lots of guts and still no glory. Pound down, farming gone, food prices up, medication delayed, jobs at risk. What did we 'win' again?

am confused...do you mean the 1973 one....cos it was. As was the GFA....one that came about, partly, as a result of the fallout form the 1973 one.
I was talking about our referendums on the EEC/EU, apologies for the confusion.

By all means, hold another referendum. I'd be rallying for our Parliament to respect the result... although respecting results by MP's has been lacking, recently
