Another new Brexit thread

You genuinely think this is some sort of Johnson masterplan to keep us in? I knew some would accuse him of that at some stage but I didn’t think it would be this quick

There is no good Brexit. Once that is accepted we can all move on, sign the current WA which is on the table and get on with our lives whilst leaving the lunatic fringe out where they belong screaming ‘clean brexit’ or any other similar empty sound bite

Yes I do. Absolutely.

Never underestimate the machinations of a liar and a cheat.

This ticks all the right wing boxes. We can tell the ugly northern proles that their silly idea of national independence just wasn't possible. The unlimited supply of (white, don't forget it's almost exclusively white) cheap, easily replaceable labour can carry on undermining collective bargaining and driving down wages for working people, making them much more easily controllable.

The 5th biggest economy in the world can continue to be a colony of the bankers and the mega corporations.

Taxes can continue to be lowered for the richest in society whilst the poorest have their safety nets obliterated year on year, because you'll never have a socialist govt in the EU.

And the best bit? Those thick northern racists have been talked down to, and lectured to, for so long and so consistently that many of them actually believe the EU is acting in their interests against the evil Tories (who lets not forget have always been the architects of each new tranch of legislation taking power away from Westminster).

Tony benn, Peter shore, and a hundred other socialists are currently spinning in their graves.

But what do I know? I'm a thick northern racist.

The relevant links were in the original post - the bits in blue - and the Sky News link was posted separately which showed footage of Verhofstadt and his underlings immediately followed by a direct quote from the book as follows -"we managed it, after 2 years we kicked them out on our terms and conditions - we finally turned them into a colony - our plan from the start." Boulton then observes - "so the wicked Europeans were trying to do us in all along ....a punishment deal?" - "Quite true, just a lighthearted but accurate description of what happened" was the reply from Lode Desmet, whose book is based on his recorded material, some of which appeared in the BBC 4 documentary.

What I like is the recognition every other issue has been neglected since Brexit has been on the agenda

20,000 new police officers can only be a good thing. Investment in NHS and education. World continues to spin whilst we get Brexit over the line.
 
Bottled it. He had the look of a man who's cabinet colleagues had just failed to back him for another election ( they have duck houses to build and stables to heat after all ) - can't see Amber Rudd with her slender majority chomping at the bit for a GE.
So a plea to the likes of Gauke, Clarke etc ( many of whom are standing down next GE anyway ) not to do the dirty on him. Cummings is leading him up a blind alley.

Look at the tax rates for the wealthiest in European society 20 years ago, then 10 years ago, then today and you will see a trend.
You'll see a similar trend but in reverse for the social safety net of the poorest in society during the same timeframe .
