How do I add pictures I’ll post some of the bass I’ve had ,

So just managed a half hour session between work !

Conditions were average I thought so decided to go a bit later!! Big mistake .... as I got to my mark there were big bass heading bait fish up the boat ramp !

First cast produced a 4lb fish , great fight in choppy sea...

I had another about 3.5lb as the tide dropped the water colour went to crap so I called it a day ,

Great fun in a short session

Caught a bunch of Brooke trout in a tiny little creek, wrapped them in tin foil and cooked them in the coals of the bonfire, beatiful

Nice one pal. What kind of spinners/lures are you using?

Use various depending on time of year , water clarity and what depth the fish are at !

White , lemon white And orange , mullet colours all work well here !

I use mainly surface lures and very shallow runners

I've got quite a few pike 'n perch spoons spinners n' plugs. Never tried bass fishing. Will they work and can I catch bass from rocks? I know very little about bass fishing, but I caught one several years ago whilst beachcasting near Bournemouth.

Rocks deffo, any features , gully’s , posts etc !

They will work , it all depends on what colours. And depths they swim !

Ok thanks. So bass are mostly surface feeding fish? And I noticed you said you catch and release. Gotta be honest and say if I catch one it will get eaten, providing it's of legal size to take.

Nope they feed at all depths , but if your fishing rocky shallow ground you need surface or very shallow runners !

I catch and release 95% of my fish , you can only take 1 at the moment anyways, and the stocks are in a mess ! If. I take a fish it would
Be a 3lb and Id let the bigger breeding fish go back !

That's really good of you, but do you honestly feel that blokes like yourself fishing a single line are effecting the stocks either way?

Of course not , just because i believe in catch and release doesn’t mean I’m naive enough to think it makes a difference

I have reported illegal gill netting from shore twice this week where large numbers of bass have been taken by blokes like me !

America protect there sport fish , as do Ireland , here in the U.K. we let anyone rape and pillage the seas, is a disgrace !

So no blokes like me don’t make a difference but Guys who take ten a session and sell them to the local Chinese takeaway are equally as diabolical

Good point that mate. I got talking to an independent Cornish trawlerman with a small vessel 3 years ago. (no @snorky, not as small as your vessel pal; ) He told me the main problem in commercial fishing was the huge Russian trawler/factory ships that operate off Cornish shores. These factory ships do not comply with the net sizes(mesh guage) British trawlermen use and scoop up everything indiscriminately. Young fish too small to eat will be processed into animal food and these foreign vessels are doing untold damage to fish stocks in British waters.

No knocking you mate, I admire your stance. It just reminds me of when I was a youngster and was lucky enough to have access to good brown /sea trout and salmon fishing. I had my priest marked with notches for the legal size for keeping and would let anything go that was even a whisker under. The actual issue was the cunts netting the pools and estuary at night and I didn't make a dent either way.
