Wasn’t the issue that Corbyn wanted a seat at the table during any trade talks involving the EU and other countries? Something which the EU just wouldn’t agree to.

He wanted the UK to be able to influence outside trade that would affect us I think. Barnier said he’d rather deal with Corbyn than the Tories as he had a better grip on reality.

I’m not sure how possible it was but Corbyn hasn’t had the chance to negotiate with them.

He’s only doing it so that he can claim to be seeking a solution. And then to be able to say that he’s been made aware just how such a solution would negatively impact the peace process as far as loyalists are concerned. If foster gave him any indication that she would agree to it he would have a dicky fit.

As i have posted earlier... he's about to throw Northern Ireland under the bus for a deal

Bingo.

Corbyn has already given information on this.

A new Customs Union and close alignment to the Single Market, with gaining access.

NI issue solved.

The EU said they liked the sound of it when May was in charge.
Aye, because it's a sensible solution to this bullshit. Anyone who doesn't see the pure incompetence of the tory party is deluding themselves. I personally think that option should then be put to a public vote to see if this is what the public want, but there's also an argument if parliament can agree on that it should just be put through. Not because of any 'seeing through the will of the people' bullshit, just to shut the leave voters up.

Yeah but that just makes Johnson look indecisive. Besides this Govt is dead. It’s an ex Govt. The only thing keeping it upright is because the FTPA has nailed it to its perch.

An election in November is inevitable.
Not sure. November is already tight after parliament comes back and I'm not sure we have them in December? I think it could be as far off as January.

Little known fact, Thatcher was also the first major politician in the world to press for climate change legislation.

She set up the IPCC, did she not?

More to do with wanting to reduce our dependency upon coal and coalminers perhaps. But either way a good thing.

What would happen if Boris went to the EU in October and asked them for an extension but also said that he didn't really want it?

Would they be that bothered about what he wants? Isn’t it more about what he can do about it? How likely is it that he would be able to engineer no deal at the end of the extension period? If the Eu believe that it’s very likely that we’re heading for an election then it’s in their interest to wait until after that election.

It’s often been said that the EU want to make sure that if we end up with no deal they can’t be blamed for that outcome. So unless Johnson tells them that he doesn’t want an extension and also explains how he will frustrate parliament to ensure there isn’t a deal, they’ll probably reluctantly agree to an extension.

The people of Europe had no choice in fact Germany and France aside, no fucker had a choice and now no one has a choice about her appointees.

The people of Europe choose their MEPs who are empowered to have that choice, just because you can't vote personally doesn't make it an unelected position. She only got enough votes due to polish and Italian MEPs pushing her over the line. I agree with the principle you're saying, it's still an elected position though (and by the heads of states too)

There should definitely be an elected EU President, elected by the whole electorate of the EU.

I can see an argument both ways for it tbh particularly in its current guise, I don't actually mind the council voting for it and it then being ratified by the parliament. If the position was elected by the whole electorate, then I'd also want to change the remit of the role.
