The Labour Party

Yeah, and when you look at the repayment terms they're not that restrictive and the interest rate is quite low. It's hardly Wonga levels
They'd be better targeting the obscene levels of rent being charged by Universities and private landlords which impacts students and parents alike.

Listen, you’re the one who started on me this morning and dished out insults. You cannot call my argument silly if you’ve not read it all.
I called it siily before you posted any links or quotes. It's still a daft comment, links or quotes or non.

Where's George?

he was banging on about surrender monkey's not giving Boris (sorry, I mean the people) the election they want (or not).

Maybe this might help....

We are in a strange position with tuition fees due to it no longer being seen as an investment in the future its now seen as a debt carried forward.

The multiplier effect of a decent education should far outweigh the investment made into it. As we desperately need a multi skilled workforce with brexit on the horizon then education is needed more than ever. It is an investment made by society in the same way as investment is made on a new airport etc.

That's not a fat lot of use the poor sods who have to pay more taxes today. The benefits to society as a whole are something that we'd see over decades.

And given the increased tax burden on everyone, do you think it's right that people who are unable to go to university, should pay for those who do want to?

I have no idea mate, I despair with him.

The stupidity of his position is made even more ridiculous, by the simple fact that there aren't the numbers in Parliament for a second referendum.

We can't have a second referendum until those numbers change and those numbers aren't changing unless we have a general election.

I called it siily before you posted any links or quotes. It's still a daft comment, links or quotes or non.

You posted it following it too, when I mentioned the headline.

Anyway, I’m not here to squabble, I’d rather debate the specific policies, most of which are very much needed.

It'll be interesting to see if some accusations of impropriety come his way to get him to stfu.

I think Corbyn likes him where he is. Keep your enemies closer etc.

It’s probably good for Corbyn to have someone in his ear that represents the views of some that completely disagree with him.

Watson really shouldn’t undermine Labour’s Brexit position now though, at this stage they have a mature and sensible approach that’s fair, furthermore it’s actually clear for once.

Good reply, the whole point of pledges such as these is to start a conversation into the why and when's etc. No manifesto appeals to everyone as no party appeals to everyone so you use your judgement as to does the good outweigh the bad and indifferent.

Overall I think you are quite positive, as I expect most people would be as its fairly radical without being extreme and its well balanced

I will put you down a Yes :))

It's well balanced when it doesn't have any costs next to it.

What Labour fail to realise is people do not consider Corbyn or his front bench team to be competent. Coming up with such a massive list of expenditure and then putting the likes of Diane Abbott, Richard Burgon and Barry Gardner in the position of delivering is a huge turn off to many. Me included and I was a Labour voter pre Corbyn.

Labour's problems are not policy - they are the calibre of people. Corbybn as top of the list. I doubt I will vote Labour again until he is gone. Thankfully my local MP defected to TIG/Change so I have a decent alternative.

Yes. If the system is run correctly, those that don't go to university benefit from an economy including those that do go to university.

Agree. It's normally Corbyn that has me thinking "WHY??!!" but this is a complete dick move from Watson.

You think Lewis was stitched up?
He was stitched up in the Gordon Brown era - that is fact - the stitcher-upper admitted it.

For the latest accusation of sexual harassment, you would think the party leaders would want to speed up the process somewhat but they have chosen to address it in the same way as any other disciplinary matter. A serious accusation as such should be dealt with promptly. In the meantime he is subject to all matters of comments by followers of the Labour party.

So yes, I believe that MY representative in the HoC has been stitched up. If he is guilty, find him guilty. If not, declare it false.

I see the ever popular Tom Watson is arguing for a second referendum to settle Brexit before a GE. The fiction that a second referendum would settle Brexit is now being used in an attempt to delay the Labour GE defeat and his tenure in the party leadership.

It's a moot point.

He resigned from the Labour Party in December 2018.
