I wouldn't have taken it on the chin but going to war wouldn't have been my first option always the last.

It should always be the last case but invading troops marching through your towns/villages is the last case scenario.

Different kettle of fish the Falklands are 8k miles away on the Atlantic we are joined to Scotland by land.

Churchill had not option I agree but Thatcher did. The matter could have been resolved diplomatically like does the Falklands want to remain a British colony, but that never happened. But funny how there is now talk of oil fields never mentioned at the time.

What complete & utter fucking bollocks.

Let me make my point clear before SWP et Al jump to the conclusion that I was prepared to wave the white flag as soon as Argentinian boots hit the ground.
This whole thing could have been avoided 6 months earlier had the Argentinians been taken seriously https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ntold-story-of-the-falklands-war-8544805.html
Sadly you can't wind back the clock because once boots do hit the ground there is no other option. But some active diplomacy initially could have avoided the proceeding conflict.

Seeing videos of Iran (and Afghanistan) before the lunatics took over, makes me sad, Iran in particular looked an amazing place to visit. Same with Cambodia, too.

We were talking about Thatcher specifically and that article states she was given the wrong information, that Argentina weren’t going to invade and wanted to pursue their claim to the islands peacefully, by the intelligence services.

So the above isn’t her fault and she was forced to react to a ground invasion on British soil. In which she swiftly did and correctly gave them a fucking good hiding.

You wouldn’t take action if someone invaded your bedroom, you would make them a cuppa and apologise for the actions of the elite that had obviously let him down.

BBC: Saudi oil attacks: Drones and missiles launched from Iran - US

The US has reportedly identified locations in Iran from which drones and cruise missiles were launched against major Saudi oil facilities on Saturday. Senior US officials told media outlets that the locations were in southern Iran, at the northern end of the Gulf. Saudi air defences did not stop the drones and missiles because they were pointed southwards, to prevent attacks from Yemen, they added.
Iran denies involvement in the attacks, which disrupted global oil supplies.

Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels said they had launched the drones that struck the Abqaiq oil processing plant, the world's largest, and the Khurais oilfield.
They have launched attacks into Saudi Arabia before, but US officials said on Sunday they believed the drones and missiles did not originate from the south or south-west, and instead were launched from the north or north-west.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called the attack a reciprocal act by the "Yemeni people".

What has the US said?
A senior US official told CBS News that a US team had been on the ground at Abqaiq and identified specific drones and missiles used in the attacks.
This wreckage will be analysed and used to present "a very compelling forensic case" that Iran was responsible, the report says.
Vice-President Mike Pence said on Tuesday the US was "evaluating all the evidence", and that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was en route to Saudi Arabia "to discuss our response". He added: "The United States of America will take whatever action is necessary to defend our country, our troops, and our allies in the Gulf. You can count on it."

Do you agree with handing NI to Ireland, Gibraltar to Spain, Scotland to Scotland, Wales to Wales? What about Catalonia and Spain?

The only thing that matters is what the people of those countries/territories want.

Until then, the UK has a sovereign right and duty to protect its territory however it needs to and wherever it lies.

Rather bizarrely those with this point of view also believe that the UK should join in and integrate to become part of any future EU super-state...

I don’t believe in those things, not unless those people wish to self govern and I absolutely agree that our sovereign territory is ours until that point and we must defend it.

I also believe leaving the European Union is a fucking disastrous decision.

So your last line isn’t true.

Anyone here has Amazon prime membership? I urge you all to watch Betrayal episodes ...

You will find some of your answers there. Pay attention in particular to the episodes about Vanunu, Gerald Bull, etc the list is endless. They have been after Iran for donkeys of years. Read the book '1666 redemption through sins'. Peice the puzzles. The picture will be clear.

I'll watch it mate, definitely not a secret that the Americans have been wanting to attack Iran for a long time though

Let's not forget that it is the US who started all this crap.

True and not even limited to the Trump era. Goes back nearly 7 decades to when a CIA (US & UK) backed coup of the democratically elected leader of Iran to put in place a puppet regime with Shah Pahlavi because Iran was nationalizing their oil
