It’s been a fun week. Started with revived optimism of a deal and ended with the EU agreeing to the UK’s request not to share their new papers on ideas to solve the NI border in case it leaked by summarising the UK papers in a memo and leaking, sorry sharing, that instead. To compound this the EU also helpfully concluded that the ideas in the papers were, and I quote, a ‘bag of shite’.

For those not inclined to pay too much attention to all these shenanigans the UK’s new ideas on avoiding a land or sea border was to have half the border on land and half of it in the sea. The idea behind this thinking is, presumably, to piss off all communities equally.

And they say the art of compromise is dead.

So are you saying that the leavers who were getting giddy about the prospects of a no backstop deal thanks to the supposed viable threat of No Deal over the last couple of days due to Juncker’s “warm words” were getting a little bit ahead of themselves?

Just living in their delusional alternative reality as usual.

I used to think that one day these people will wake up but not now, too far gone.

I suggest you do some reading on offshore tax havens in UK territories. It's something I've done a bit of research and it's interesting to say at the least

Ah yes, a free gift from the Tax Justice Network a current favourite of the Bundestag Finance Committee in their relentless campaign to shut down tax havens - provided they are outside the EU. TJN is a branch of ATTAC - global advocates of the 'Tobin Tax'. Tobin has said that Attac has misused his name. He says he has nothing in common with their goals and supports free trade — "everything that these movements are attacking. They're misusing my name." [5]

Shame George you might have learnt something had you watched the docu, unless you're suggesting you know more than the Tax justice network? Can't say I haven't tried to engage in a discussion with you.

Unfortunately when you dig beneath the surface as regards tax havens you see that the UK is not an all benevolent good and that countries like Luxembourg are small fry in comparison to us. We really are screwed over by the elites who seem to have massive influence over our politicians, be it labour or conservatives.

The motives for no deal start to become clear when you realise that we will have less regulation with no ties to the E.U and will most likely allow us to become somewhat like Singapore, low tax for the elites and where the poor suffer.

I'm absolutely convinced the ones on here, for a start, will never wake up. Ever.

If & when we leave, & it turns out as it obviously will, they will complain that it's not what they voted for & it 'would have' been fine if the politicans (who they voted to give more power to) had listened to them (even thoigh they don't agree with each other),

If it doesn't happen, it 'would have been' great if not for us, ruining it for them (even though we, unfortunately, have no power to do so).

I have also noticed the argument creeping back in, that people have said 'all leavers are thick racists'.

I don't know anyhody who has said that.

'All thick racists voted leave' is not the same as 'all leavers are thick racists'. The first one is 100% true in my personal experience along with 'all clueless xenophobes especially amongst the coffin dodgers '.

Plenty of non racist, non xenophobic coffin dodgers also voted 'leave'.

Luckily for them, so did the racists & xenophobes, so they had a majority

A big own goal for you there btw George, tjn actively supporting investigation into Luxembourg

It's amazing how easy it is to prove you wrong and the nonsense you constantly perpetuate with a quick Google search

I enjoy discussion which is why I took the trouble to provide a context. You may be surprised to know I agree with virtually all of what you say but my point is that the EU's approach to their own corporate tax havens in member states such as Luxembourg, Ireland and the Netherlands is rather 'inconsistent' shall we say.

The coming weeks are going to make some on here look so silly ;-)

Are the EU perfect and without blame? No I think that's obvious to all which is why even it's biggest of supporters believe that some reforms are needed, I would not disagree with that.

However we are far more guilty in that department than other European states, the problem will only be exacerbated if we completely cut ties with the EU which is in my own opinion (it could be wrong I admit) is why much of the erg appear to be desperate to leave without a deal of any kind.

Oh dear, another self-authenticated victory, refuting something never said and all before I get chance to respond to your first post. (Complete with the usual childish applause from the pathetic Golden Mean blister)

'Relentless campaign to shut down tax havens, except outside the EU'
You then go on to talk about Luxembourg, all the while not realising tjn are in support of an investigation into Luxembourg.
You make assertions that are entirely false so yeah I will continue to point out these errors

The UK doesn't benefit directly from its perfectly legal Off-Shore Tax Exiles however distasteful they may be but the EU havens are actuully stealing legitimate corporate tax revenues from other member states.

It's the EU campaign I was talking about you muppet not TJNs. Not realising? Entirely false? It's spelt out in the links I provided, stop digging and grow up.

Point 1, watch the documentary I linked, our country doesn't benefit, I 100% agree, it's the elites that do so which is why I believe that this is a massive problem that needs to be fixed.

Point 2, whataboutterry as usual from you George, what you discussed had no relevance but you tried to discredit tjn as you knew my claims had basis that we are massive offenders in helping out the elites in comparison to EU states such as the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

As for me growing up George, I'm not the one trying to blame all of our countries ills on a foriegn entity. Perhaps the mature thing as UK residents we should at what our elites are doing to us because these are massive problems that affect the poor and unfortunate, to realise the crap that is going on and that is possible we are being manipulated, would be growing up.

Re-read my last post - I was editing it to save space. Just stop claiming I've posted things I haven't - such as 'blaming all our ills on a foreign entity'. I'm only too aware of the activities of global capitalist elites and their impact on the other 99.99999% of the planet.
