I was expecting Mendy to write something about this in Bernardo's defence, but I guess club banned them of adding anything more.
The character Mendy is compared to is also not real, the point I am trying to make is there appears to be a different definition of racism when it is a white person to a black/Asian than it is if it is an black/Asian against a white person.I hate to break this to you but maybe, just maybe, it’s because Coronation Street isn’t real and the person who played the character was, ahem, just acting? I mean, was Helen Worth ever pulled up when her character Gail Tilsley made homophobic comments towards Todd Grimshaw after he made a pass at her son?

A family member of mine works in the emergency services in Oldham and most attacks are Asian on white but these are not reported as race crimes. Unfortunately the majority of us have to walk on egg shells so not to upset the minority!
I suppose it's a bit like Pepe the Frog, he has been used as a symbol to champion those with Autism, the Kekistani thing(I don't really understand that one), Hong Kong protests more recently. The character Mendy is compared to is also not real, the point I am trying to make is there appears to be a different definition of racism when it is a white person to a black/Asian than it is if it is an black/Asian against a white person.

I was just going off the BBC News report in the link.
As I said, it must have been bad, but I guess “racial abuse” is now a simple blanket statement for “Believe us, it was racist and it was bad!” and I’m not good with that. I will judge for myself, because too many people have a hair trigger on faux outrage.
I didn't say we haven't. I just hope we have.And how do you know we havn`t ?
Seriously. you have to use that word?We know what argument you are trying to use but you are wrong and don't make sense at all. I am 100% sure you heard the word ****** many, many more times in movies than you've heard white trash. It's because that's what the art is about - to raise the issue sometimes and to depict that kind of people who used those words. Unless they are actually promoting those characters in good light, they are doing a job for society that you obviously fail to realize and understand.
We all might hate outrage culture, but we're talking about England here, not Spain or Portugal (different cultures). Two mates having a laugh and meaning no offence - we all know that. Something the club could do without. As well as being a monstrously good footballer, he's a hell of a nice guy, highly intelligent with a better command of English than all the English Liverpool and United players put together.Give me a fucking break, if it was a Liverpool or united player and it was between two friends and I understood context, then I would be saying the same god damned thing. I fucking hate outrage culture, where one mistake can ruin you. Was this a dumb tweet, yes, was it racist, lol, no. Mendy isn’t taking any offense to it, he apologized, end of story. I’m Hispanic and I have friends of every race and none of are in any way racist, but we make stereotypical racially insensitive jokes to each, but we know they are jokes and we laugh our behinds off at them. Silva should not have posted this on SM in today’s pussy culture climate, but it’s really much to do about nothing.
If mendy wasnt offended by it who the tweet was meant for why should other people be offended for mendy

Why cornflake?Growing up in Fallowfield, I had mates of all colours. My best mate was as black as you could be. I called him chocolateman, he called me cornflake. Neither of us, or our families, ever took offence. The world‘s gone mad!
Rappers use it all the time, as does Tarantino in several movies. It’s offensive but it’s also used as a parody to expose the bigotry within society, I don’t think Bosnianblue has any racist intentions with that post.Seriously. you have to use that word?
There’s no privacy when you post something on twitter, to be fair, not because you’re famous.Yes it probably should have been kept as a private joke amongst friends(Whatsapp?) but that's only because of the way things are theses days, which is wrong in itself to just accept it as the way it is. "He's stupid because people are mental, nosey, sanctimonious arseholes these days".
I suppose there is no privacy when you're that famous though. It's not right but it's one of the prices they pay for all that wealth and adulation they normally get.
Pointless too, as we've often managed quite well without him anyway. The notion of a ban seems a bit far-fetched, and wishful thinking on behalf of rival fans.
Spot on pal, great post.We all might hate outrage culture, but we're talking about England here, not Spain or Portugal (different cultures).
