The Conservative Party

The Government is tomorrow expected to table a motion paving the way for a short conference recess

Cabinet ministers are working on the assumption that it will pass and Tory conference will still go ahead

Hmmm this could be tricky especially when you have just sacked 21 MP's from your party

It would be inconvenient, but not impossible, for the Conservative conference (which starts on Sunday, and is due to run until the following Wednesday) to go ahead with the Commons actually sitting. The Commons does not schedule recesses while the SNP are holding their conference. Boris Johnson could deliver his leader’s speech on the Sunday, instead of on the Wednesday morning as planned. And Commons business could be scheduled to minimise the chances of key votes on the Monday or Tuesday.

Oh dear my heart bleeds for him a curtailed party conference and his party and Brexit strategy in tatters!!!

I think BoJo is fu@ked either way. It goes ahead and it will stink or it doesn't and he has to go the HoC and face whatever they through at him.

To be fair to her, I reckon she is horrified by it. For all her faults and they were many, two I don't think that could be aimed at her is that she didn't try her best and that she loved our country. I think her, Cameron and Osborne will be looking on and thinking how the fucking hell has it come to this, my word we fucked up big time and let that silly **** Johnson get into power.
She tried her best for her party and insofar as she loves the country she loves her party more.

Yes but is it not dole spongers that are the real problem? I mean there must be thousands of 16-24 year old's on £56.80 a week, ruining your country.

and don't forget all those unwell benefits scroungers too - I mean those people terminally ill who drag it out all the time stealing money in benefits that could be used to cut taxes instead. Selfish bastards.

For the ‘blue rinses’ and ‘the hang em and flog em brigade’ the Tory conference is the pinnacle- they’ll be gutted. Shame.

Danny Finkelstein has finally broken ranks...

For a Conservative government to find its actions revoked and reversed by the highest court, for it to have to be reminded by judges of its constitutional and political duty, and for it to have given advice to the Queen which has been found unlawful, is a calamity.

And a calamity it has brought on itself. And all for what? To achieve what? To advance what?

It has combined constitutional sharp practice (or unconstitutional sharp practice, as the court has now concluded) with an unforced political error.

In the process it has acted against the principles that should guide a Conservative administration and undermined the most important argument for electing Conservative governments.

The whole point of Conservative government is to provide an executive aware of its limitations and sensitive to the dangers of over-reaching them. Conservatives emphasise the value of unwritten conventions by treating those rules and traditions with the greatest respect.

A Tory believes that a system based around ministerial advice to the monarch can, despite its idiosyncrasies, protect liberty and provide stable government. And that the rule of law is always to be preferred to arbitrary power.

Without these things, what is the point of Conservatives and what is the value of Conservatism? Without them, what will Conservatives say when resisting the challenge of socialists and extra-parliamentary protestors? To endanger them in order to shave a few days off the parliamentary timetable is an epic mistake.

The thick **** johnson on SKY news now doesn't even know the present laws concerning brexit.

The fuckwit should quit of be turfed out.

And don't forget the carers ... the ones who stay at home looking after the terminally ill and the disabled ..... ripping the country off for £63.80 (providing the person they are looking after qualifies for enhanced PIP because they are immobile ) a week saving the state a fortune ...

robbing twats .... what do they find to spend it all on

Apparently they were neoliberals and therefore bad.

And all those people who benefited from working families tax credits, they weren’t really better off, they were just manipulated into feeling that way by having more money.

Ha yes the policy that was going to cost 2p but cost billions and helped business, I repeat for Labour voters helped business, to underpay employees.
