With respect to the 'perch', the guy has a point.

He probably sees the perch as England's 'best known brand globally' and Liverpool are probably that given their CL win and United's hilarious decline, Liverpool's big name players -v-United's one 'star' (Pogba) etc.

Who else could it be? In the modern global TV age it's all about brand and the only other contenders would be Arsenal, Chelsea or ourselves. We're relative jcl's, Chelsea have imploded (again), and Arsenal are trying their best to continue their decline. In that light he's right, they are back on the perch - if the thing even exists outside of some peoples' ego projections.

However, given the changed circumstances from the 80's, this is very apt:

So apparently they are back on their perch again. If they are with zero league titles in 30 years what type of bird are they? More a budgie than an eagle methinks.

In that last quote I was referring to lfc fans I've encountered not speaking as one. I didnt word that well. I am a Southampton fan

Fair enough. No reason not to take you at face value. Welcome to Bluemoon.

If you're thinking of sticking around and want to talk about Southampton I'm sure somebody will start a thread if you ask. You'll no doubt get a few wanting to discuss with you and ask questions - I can think of a couple of questions myself.

When the GPC coined that phrase about Liverpool he was measuring success on the pitch. Liverpool won a champions league back in 2005 and had a much more successful decade in the 2000s than they have had since 2010. They weren’t talking about perches back then.

Since 2009 they have never finished above City in the league who have been a lot more consistent than Liverpool have over the last decade. They are a very good side and have shown year on year improvement on the pitch, if Soriano started making over egged comments like Peter Moore has come out with I would imaging Guardiola would be cringing and asking him to tone it down.

I suppose that’s the mindset of Manchester City compared to Liverpool, they think they have achieved something before it happens, that’s why the premier league trophy sits at the Etihad and not at Anfield.

Ok then if you are a saints fan and coming to the game,.make yourself known and meet a.few blues before the game and have a pint, but I doubt you will, as it will be couldn't get a ticket, Match sold out blah blah blah

Ok

You can see why they think they are top of the perch;

Not won the most league, FA cups, league cups, champs leagues,

Don’t have the biggest attendances, loudest fans

In fact around the world there are soooo many more deserving & yet cos they are this cult, delusional, media hysterical mouthy internet trolls believe they are top of the perch despite not winning its own league in 30 years. Leeds, Rags, Arsenal, Blackburn, Chelsea, Leicester & not forgetting ikkle Citeh and it’s empty seats have won it since with most of those needing promotions to do it.

I don’t care if we are never considered top of the perch, I’m sure we’ll never be the biggest but I know we are the best!
Unfortunately Liverpool have won the most League Cups,with a total of 8 wins to date.(Followed by City with 6 wins).
