The Conservative Party

Here's the text book definition of a sociopath...

A sociopath is a term used to describe someone who has antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). People with ASPD can't understand others' feelings. They'll often break rules or make impulsive decisions without feeling guilty for the harm they cause.

So it's not difficult to see that sociopaths are drawn towards right wing politics, when you have no empathy and no regard for the consequences of your actions, then it's effortless to pursue policies that hurt, damage, kill, because these policies don't effect you, and you have no regard for those that it does.

Confirmation bias.

No thank you for the sarcasm.

I 'm sorry you thought I was being sarcastic, I genuinely wasn't. I do have an interest in the origins of phrases and sayings and really did find the origin of that particular phrase interesting. I did not know it was traced back to William III and was being genuine when I thanked you for it.

As the numbers in the HoC stand Johnson could be trapped in role until the 5 year Parliament is up theoretically. He could be made to go and get as many extensions as the EU will give us - if he doesn't or crashes us out he breaks the law. Thats why the calls from the right wing press and Johnson and Evans and IDS and JRM and s on and so on grow more and more hysterical because they can shout what the fuck they like a remedy in the form of a confidence vote or a GE is unobtainable to them because of their own actions - its their own self inflicted impotence that frustrates them the most.

Would you support that course of action for shits and giggles and if so, the damage it does to our domestic politics and democracy?

You hide it so well ;-)

Trouble with you Law types is you have a way of speaking and communicating that the rest of us often struggle with.

I can only assume 75% of your degree course is taken up with learning it lol.

In what way did it specifically reference his use of the phrase? Did it say I've used this phrase because the PM did?

.

As I understand it, he said (I paraphrase because I haven't seen the threat itself) 'Boris said he would die in a ditch rather than stop us leaving, that's what will happen to you if we don't.'

I can't take it further than that, because all I have heard is what Jess Phillips said about the threat to her.

Without diverting the thread, I really am interested in the origins of phrases and sayings. A large number come from this nation's naval heritage - eg letting the cat out of the bag, freeze the balls off a brass monkey, tow-rag, first rate, turn a blind eye.

Thanks for that.

Find the fucking idiot and prosecute.

Police should also make it very clear to all politicians that the extreme rhetoric has to stop.

Unfortunately you will only ever get to demonstrate that link conclusively in circumstances where another MP has been murdered. All you can do before the point at which that happens is point to the risks, and take such steps as are reasonably necessary to moderate those risks.

To gain a political advantage, the Prime Minister refused to take any such steps.
In the light of Jo Cox's murder, I regard the prime minister's dismissal of death threats against MPs (which the police I am happy to say take far more seriously) as utterly despicable.
Johnson might be a dickhead but I'm pretty sure he didn't 'dismiss' death threats against PMs, but I accept it could have been interpreted that way. In politics and law you have to be as certain as you can be that you have understood what someone has said correctly and I return to the fact that this was political argument and the use of the word 'humbug' could easily (and in my interpretation) have been because he felt he was being accused of causality and that is not proven. Until it is proven it is not proven, that is the law, and we all abide by that don't we?

What we saw yesterday was the beginning of the last throes of Johnson's attempts to get Brexit done, but it will get a lot nastier as we approach the final hours, I bet. Personally I think he will fail, this aggressive approach will not bode well in parliament BUT might do for a future general election. Then again I'm not good at predicting election results.

You would say that wouldn't you.

This is a boring game.

I've told you before I could write your posts for you.

Cracking stuff!

I've little issue in you telling me what you think makes a sociopath mate.

Your problem comes when you then make the leap and claim its some sort of right wing political thing.

That is your conformation bias in action.

In response to a direct request to moderate his language because it was inflammatory, citing the use of the same language in death threats and referencing the murder of an MP, he said 'I've never heard so much humbug in all my life.'

That sounds pretty dismissive to me.
