The Conservative Party

Sorry to disappoint you Dave but it would have to be for Boris.

I know that sounds bonkers, but I genuinely fear the damage Corbyn & McDonnell could do, and tempting though it might be to vote LibDem, that could let Corbyn in through the side door.

My hope would be that an empowered Boris with nothing to prove, would deliver a watered-down, workable Brexit which although bad we'd survive. Plus, as I've said above, I just can't see this whole thing blowing over ever, unless we leave. Even another referendum (assuming Remain won, which is likely but not a given IMO) would not put it to bed. And I am sick of it - we need to move on one way or another, we can't stay in limbo like this forever.

FWIW, I also think that once we've left, we'll very soon be talking about rejoining. Our ultimate destiny is within the EU, I am sure of that.

I was going to guess Green, but you got in first.

You're absolutely right about leaving, if/when it happens, not being the end of the story. There will be years and years of guerrilla warfare by remainers and europhiles, just like the 40 years of euroscepticism culminating in the referendum and the mess we're in now, until we rejoin at some point in the future. Not to mention the break up of the UK and some hard times ahead.

Guerrilla warfare pmsl.

Corbyn has just gone stiff!

Does anyone like me think that this vile atmosphere in parliament conducted by Cox , Johnson et all was not all one big smoke screen. The fact that they lost in the supreme court and Johnsons bit in the sides inappropriate funding have all been sidelined.
For me this was classic Trump deception because all eveyone is taking about iis Johnson's vile words. The rest has been forgotten about. His base is lapping it up even his poster far right boy and girls are giving him the thumbs up.

Each to their own, but the damage Corbyn would do could be repaired relatively quickly. Leaving would damage us in ways it would take generations to fix.
I dunno about generations mate. I think we'd probably be worse off forever if we leave, but after the initial turmoil which would fairly quickly die down imo - over a few months perhaps - life would largely appear to be back to normal. Yes we'd all be worse off but likely in ways we wouldn't notice much. Prices might be a bit higher and growth a bit slower, but without being able to do an A - B comparison between in and out, no-one would really know how much worse off they are.

Vs Corbyn

We are 11 years on from the 2008 crash and still not over it. That's the sort of damage he could do, plunging the country back into ludicrous debt levels. Driving away investors, bringing back mass strikes, putting people out of work. And after all his tax rises, what happens? History shows that governments get stuck with levels of taxation and spending which it's very very difficult to unwind. They are dependent upon the revenues and find it impossible over anything but the long term to put things back to howthey were.

So look at just one thing - inheritance tax for example. It's taken us years and years to get to the levels we are at now so that most people can leave their house to their kids. Corbyn will scrap this. It will probably take another 10 years after he's gone, to restore it. We are talking 15 years just to get back to how it is now, assuming the turd is kicked out at first opportunity. I may be dead by then.

Probably the worse thing about a Corbyn government would be the Tory government that followed it. The biggest failing of the 1974-79 Labour government was that it paved the way for Thatcher

You'll be unsurprised that since Thatcher was arguably the greatest prime minister of my generation, I don't quite see it like that. She took a broken, strike-crippled economy and transformed it into the bright, vibrant, market-led economy we see today. Although an extremely painful transition, millions of people are now not employed in shit awful jobs like living down a coal mine your whole life, but instead are employed in better paid work with far better conditions. Had the left had their way, those people would still be underground, earning a pittance and with a dismal quality of life. The post-Thatcher world is a far, far better place, directly because of her. That so many people fail to recognise this, is pretty staggering and quite sad.

Apart from the rise in the general public cuntishness. Everything has a price.

You really have a hard on for a sociopathic, narcissistic, misogynist, and his band of rich mates making money out the biggest economic crisis since WW2 around the corner.

There is quite a bit of irony in that post to be fair fella

I'd love to know how these 'Rich mates' are going to make a shed load of money.
These lefties appear certain that these rich mates are going to make it, so they must be well in the know about how
it's done, and with them being so egalitarian and thoughtful towards their fellow man, it's only fair to share this info.
Then we can all be dead, dead rich and not give a fuck about Brexit as we'll be toasting our toes on a beach in the Cayman islands.

Well if you had money 3 years even a pillock like me would have made some knowing the pound would drop.

Anyhow my favourite part of these politics threads so far has been the vitriol including statements of bojo's mental deficiencies and vile words.

3 years we have been calling each other all sorts. Hypocrisy, dishonesty, avoidance of questions, propaganda etc have been rife daily.

Anyone including myself who has been posting on here regularly for 3 years absolutely has a mental personality disorder. How big that problem is depends on the number of posts but it's there for us all.

As I'm aware of it as are some others does this make us worse than those who simply don't see it and amusingly do the very same things of those they mock.

I've said it before it's a shrinks wank bank these threads.

I wonder who's got the biggest post count over the last few years on this sub forum. You actually see posters battling well past midnight and on it again at 7 bells the next morning.

It's almost as daft as spending a fortune to go and see some grossly overpaid blokes kick a ball about every week. WTF is *that* all about???

Wonderful to see boris being applauded by nurses and staff in wales today at an nhs hospital and cries of you are doing a great job. Quite right.

The real party for real hard working people.

Proud moment for him and will give him a boost.

A good man doing his best not like the nasty vindictive irrational labour loons.

Off for a game of ten pin bowling so say what the you want just wanted to share my happy emotions at seeing that video.

A very proud conservative.
