But on the CL front again, you’re saying everything is stacked against you then lament how easy the group games are and how it’s a procession. You can’t have it both ways.
I think there’s something to be said towards the issue with you & PSG, but I think that’s more indirect racism towards the Middle East gatecrashing the European party rather than direct discrimination to the club. Not necessarily two different sides of the coin though.

The teams are usually that bad in the group stages that City can get past the poor reffing performances. It’s when you get into the knock outs that it ends up being a leveller for the opposition.

The same pattern has happened the last two seasons, cruised the group stages fucked over in the quarters. I will be mildly surprised if anything else happens, City do as a club need to get the monkey off their back with the champions league by winning it though I will give you that.

It also highlights why most City fans don't regard the Champions league as the pinnacle of football achievements, you can lose almost a third of your games and win the thing, you can be denied by refereeing error (Lorentes goal) and go out, but the league on the other hand, just sayin!

As I said above, you lot are the only fans I’ve ever come across who have such disdain for the CL, but each to their own. Doesn’t mean that the club and manager don’t want it though.

Fair tackle. Said it on here before; one of us two will win it this year.

Fair play to your lot cos you won the European Cup a fair few times when it was the "CHAMPIONS" that won it, but now its controlled and un-organic and I think most City fans see it for what it really is.

You’re in a definite minority in the game there, pal, but fair play. It’s the biggest prize in the game, going to a European Cup final is one of the best days of your footballing life - win or lose.

Of course you can plan for the CL, every elite club in Europe has it and their domestic title at the heart of their strategy. You need some luck but you need that in a league too. More luck again because there are more games to be played there. Sometimes the best teams don’t win the CL for any number of reasons; injuries, bad luck, player mishaps etc. Football isn’t linear, it’s a mish mash of things thrown together at the same time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
Why is it that Liverpool aren't picking up injuries to key players when they are not being rotated and constantly played at high tempo. Is this luck, good training and medical staff, or perhaps something more sinister?

I don’t understand why Liverpool fans come on here spouting utter fucking bullshit about ‘endless finances’, ‘unlimited resources’ etc etc.
Grow up and try to read up football finance on Swiss Ramble’s website and then come back talking some sense, rather than the clueless drivel you are currently coming out with.

Any more drivel will be deleted as it can only be done to WUM, I’m sure you’re not really that thick, or are you?

To be fair to them, Neville was at it again on Saturday night, he said that Pep had said we've no money to spend, Neville then said we've more than anyone else which is just utter bollocks as usual, but if he's getting away with saying it on air it's no wonder everyone else who supports someone else will take it as gospel.

Fortunately Neville isn’t on here spouting that crap or he’d be told as well

Any major team would suffer terribly with 2 key long term injuries. Hardly anybody else in the world has your squad depth. We don’t have the same financial resources as you so have to box cleverer in that area. So to use that as a stick to beat us with is daft and does nothing to advance the discussion.
As I’ve said numerous times above, it’s only your fans who show this disdain and regard for the Champions League. I posted this a few pages back but I’ll post it again - what your manager and club think of the CL and how much they want to win it.

I think we know what happens at our own club thanks,we have serious reasons for hating UEFA and so boo their jungle,so do barca and other fans, you spent a fortune in the last 2yrs,klopp has had enough money to build a deep squad,we can only have the same size squad as anyone else,it's a mark of pep and the club to have spent the money wisely

Still got my doubts about City as Pep hasn’t won an away knock out game for us past the quarter finals. He seems to over think situations which resulted in poor performances at Monaco, Liverpool and Spurs.
Liverpool’s style of play is more suited to the competition as they have the ability to be solid with 3 disciplined midfielders and switch it from front to back quickly and 2 full backs that can cause a lot of problems. Guardiola’s style of play is more mechanical and makes it easier for City to dominate teams in the premier league rather than adapt to one off knock out games.

Did you read what I said earlier? If a player moves to a club for the chance of CL glory then by default he’s moving to a team that he believes can win their domestic title or at the very least be in with a great chance.
Do you think players move to City just to win the PL?
Fair question... Our players, manager backroom staff and our owners are desperate to win it. I'm pretty ambivalent on winning it such is the corruption, but I want us to win it ASAP because Silva Aguero and Fernandinho in particular came here not just for the money, but the long term project. They have been very loyal to our cause as was Zabaleta Yaya and Kompany who didn't manage to lift the CL trophy. I really hope that Silva(in particular) can bow out at the top winning the CL this season before he leaves. Here's hoping...

Losing 4 games out of 13 to win a cup competition isn't as big an achievement as losing 4 games out of 50 to win the domestic treble.

Most of my City mates want the CL trophy this year...it's getting boring winning everything else multiple times haha!!...just joking. And it would be a great moment and a fitting end to see one of our best ever players David Silva lift the trophy on his last game for the club.

Out of interest regarding the last point about an invitational showpiece with exclusive access, can I ask what City fans feel about the various proposals that have been floated around regarding super league with certain places being guaranteed for 20 years without fear of relegation? .
Horrific idea that we will end up part of due to the huge financial gains involved unfortunately...........

SSN just stated Littlewoods have scored 8 goals from goalkeeping errors since the beginning of last season - have we had any?

Do you happen to have the link to this? I'm interested in which goals were counted towards this, but can't find it on the SSN site.

That’s a classic straw man argument - you’re mooting something that doesn’t even exist. Have we had a good run with injuries in key positions? Definitely. Doesn’t mean anything’s bad there. And if the inference is doping etc do you know how many times players get tested a season? No club could get away with it for any extended period.
My own take is that it’s small gains. For example, we took Bayern’s fitness coach off them. If that makes us 4% fitter and less susceptible to silly knocks then it’s job done. Tiniest of margins at this level of the game.

Minority??? I said MOST City fans and I Stand by that, I couldn't care less what fans from other clubs think, since we've become a force and therefore a fly in the ointment of the established "elite", all our achievements are denigrated and the goalposts moved in the attempt to deny us what we as City fans know.
