The Conservative Party

Breaking News from from Cliveden Literary Festival

Rory Stewart is to launch a new centrist “party” modelled on Emmanuel Macron's ‘En Marche’, he has said.

The former Tory MP said it would be based on youth participation and the "radical exercise of listening". Mr Stewart had the Conservative Party whip removed after he voted against the Government on the Benn Act, which requires Boris Johnson to seek a Brexit extension from the EU.

He told Cliveden Literary Festival on Saturday that setting up a new party was the right thing to do, even though it would be difficult under the UK's first past the post electoral system. He was asked by a member of the audience whether the UK would see the “rise of the extremes and a centre party”.

Well that's going well in France. Where Rioting has now become the weekly Saturday pastime.

Seems to me the only interesting thing about this conference is all the skeletons falling out of Johnson's cupboard. Whether is the inappropriate use of public funds for his bit on the side, his alleged groping from 20 years ago? https://www.theguardian.com/politic...id-backs-boris-johnson-on-groping-allegations

Its quiet the measure of the man who can't help himself around women, you just wonder is this the tip of the iceberg in terms of sexual scandals? He's not the first and certainly won't be the last PM to have deal with this but he has literally been in the job 5 minutes.

I know it’s amazing isn’t how it’s all coming out now , it makes you wonder whether it’s orchestrated and choreographed by someone ?

You think it is coincidence all this bullshit is coming out now? Mudslinging nonsense.

Cant help feeling there is a bit of a witch hunt going on with Johnson. Wonder made the journalist who alleges she was groped speak up 20 years later?? Im sure im not the only one who is thinking this, the electorate are not fools. Meanwhile the respected chair of the public accounts committee, Margaret Hodge faces reselection presumably after daring to criticise the Labour Leaderships anti Semitism stance. Is this another sensible moderate Labour MP hounded out by the far left? Petty politics all round!

How can you say that this is bullshit do you know these 2 women? These are alleged and without a court case nobody can say whether or not either of both are true?

Of course he is going to deny these allegations but these women were both working for tory leaning publications it would be very interesting if they go to trial.

As for Hodge she didn't help her own case she did make some pretty nasty comments and not handling her grievances in a moderate way. Not saying there aren't issues of anti Semitism just like there is in all party's, Margaret used it as an excuse to get in some of her own gripes at the leadership at the same time.

I expect numerous women had their leg squeezed 20 years ago but didn’t say anything about it. Not many would have had their leg squeezed by a future PM. Not many would have found themselves in the position where eventually they could get retribution on the man who had groped them

Yeah. These women finding the sex pest’s hands up their skirts secretly encouraged him so that when the sex pest became PM they could all get together and extract their revenge. It’s all a dastardly plot.

He’s a serial sex pest. Once we accept that we will all feel better.

she has never alleged that he put his hand up her skirt but just exaggerate bob and make shit up to make your point.

However I imagine to be fair to her it was twenty years ago so it will be a little sketchy.
