I said a few pages back that they’re like us in the 90s except with a lot, lot more money. With the right men in, they could easily get back to the title race. Can’t see it happening though, the structure is crammed with mediocrity from the board room to the boot room. Long may it continue.

They could do a lot worse than bring Brendan Rodgers in, he would get a system implemented and identify players where they wouldn’t get their pants taken down. I think his stock will go up this season. Produced a cracking team in 2014 for you lot and did a very good job at Swansea.

I said it two years back to a scum fan, to his disdain. Although I believe their rise and your demise in positions during the 90`s was many factors which went against your club and luck in theirs.

The truth was like the scum now, ye were trying to get Daglish and Souness to push the old ways through a new team. Ye sold some good players on and they were replaced with the likes of stan collyflower and stevie Mcpointy point. now ye had good players, just some that came in weren t good enough. You had some serious bad buys like the scum are having now.

What made the scum push on past you was an increase in stadium capacity, they were 10-20,000 more than ye. they also had key revenue on live TV games and had superior revenue on every team, all of this with their success meant they were financially ahead of everyone. Star players just went there.

At the time you could only inject cash to strengthen your squad on a 2-3 year basis( big spending to boost squad). The Truth was ye couldn t really compete with the scum, nor could anyone else. Arsenal only got their finances sorted when their team was no longer a threat to the REAL top teams.

Chelsea just helped break their grip on the top and knock them off their perch for a while, IMO.

Spot on " but its our money" don't you know..

The last time i saw a Rag team as bad as this was under Frank O'Farell in the 70's , they were useless and we used to batter them home and away for years , they are lucky that at the moment there are half a dozen sides worse than them , or they would be playing in the championship next season

Some rumours suggesting United may target Ousmane Dembélé in the winter transfer window - presumably this could be linked to a renewed effort to bring Neymar in

Not a chance Dembele joins the Rags. Firstly, don't believe the hyperbole about their finances, young players are coming in because they've spent up for the foreseeable. Secondly, apart from money (I assume he's already being paid very well) why would he consider a move to a mid-table premier league side?

The We're Going to Shit on O'Farrell, Shit On O'Farrell Tonight song (to the tune of Roll Out The Barrel) was a particular favourite of mine.

How do people see it going for the rags in the longer term. I’m very much enjoying their slide into mediocrity but then I keep seeing “record profits” and them being 3rd in the Forbes rich list. It seems like in the short term the still have the chance to buy their way out of this mess. How can they destruct? Like decades of mediocrity and then relegation... can it happen? Or are we beyond that because of their fan base and riches?
Help me dream this dream!

I can’t see them going down.

But people were saying that they were too good to be relegated in '74.

And they were.
