I said it two years back to a scum fan, to his disdain. Although I believe their rise and your demise in positions during the 90`s was many factors which went against your club and luck in theirs.
The truth was like the scum now, ye were trying to get Daglish and Souness to push the old ways through a new team. Ye sold some good players on and they were replaced with the likes of stan collyflower and stevie Mcpointy point. now ye had good players, just some that came in weren t good enough. You had some serious bad buys like the scum are having now.
What made the scum push on past you was an increase in stadium capacity, they were 10-20,000 more than ye. they also had key revenue on live TV games and had superior revenue on every team, all of this with their success meant they were financially ahead of everyone. Star players just went there.
At the time you could only inject cash to strengthen your squad on a 2-3 year basis( big spending to boost squad). The Truth was ye couldn t really compete with the scum, nor could anyone else. Arsenal only got their finances sorted when their team was no longer a threat to the REAL top teams.
Chelsea just helped break their grip on the top and knock them off their perch for a while, IMO.
