I can vouch with this - I work for a US firm and regularly discuss the similarity between the Trump vote and the brexit vote. We tend to agree they are not the brightest and both are massively damaging our countries.
Different strokes and all that....

Just arrived back from Cyprus where the vast majority of UK people are now stronger about leaving - even if no deal is necessary

And these are people with real skin in the came - not just observers

They are perfectly entitled to hide behind the EU, that’s what the EU is for, to protect its members. We too could hide behind them if we hadn’t decided to leave.

Anyway, they haven’t played billy big bollocks, they’ve been the opposite of the leave voice in Britain, that did actually play billy big bollocks.

The Irish issue on the border has been criminally ignored since 2015 and the GFA is at a real risk now because of hard line Brexiteers.

Ireland, as the EU have, have specifically asked Johnson to come up with an alternative to the backstop, that doesn’t compromise the GFA, and he hasn’t managed it.

His offering is purposefully weak and he didn’t expect to get them to agree.

the Irish Courts have ruled on this...

Fear not, a deal will mean you wont step in anything nasty.
I fear the only deal that will satisfy the ERG and the DUP will be one that will go down very badly in NI and Ireland too.
But at least England will be sorted eh?

At this stage the best deal for the DUP is a no deal. But that will be a catastrophe as you’ve said and they will be blamed in NI.

I don’t know what will happen over the next week but I don’t think Varadkar will agree to anything that does not have support in the North, which is as it should be.
So far the North chose to stay in the EU, then agreed with the backstop, and disagreed with the UK gov’s proposal last week.

So the other options are to threaten them and us with no deal, threaten to ruin ours and the Northern economies.

Diplomacy is great isn’t it.

ERG will fall into line imo and the DUP will take their usual bribe.

Nothing like self interest when in a union eh?

I don’t know why you find that funny. I’m happy to leave on the terms you wish to, with a deal but English idiots have meant that Ireland are backed into a corner by taking a hard line approach.

English idiots being the Tory Party.
They’re the only ones to have threatened us, so I assumed that is who he meant in his post.
