Maybe to people who like to sort everyone else into little groups.

I've called him Jezza in the past, and I can't stand Jezza. See how your logic breaks down there? Whatever term I use tells you nothing about what aligience I have. Jesus, is this really how you base public support for political figures? XD

Language reveals the user. What you say, how you say it, reveals who you are.

These are the sorts of facts that the one-eyed prefer to avoid - taking lazy refuge is more convenient.

I just mentioned in the scenario that the WA would have to be settled first - that could be an interesting negotiation.

My recent post shows how they cannot deal with realities. I am cool with it as they demonstrate by themselves the paucity of their understanding and debating capability - which is more satisfying than actually doing it myself.

Another possible title candidate could be:

"Diaries of the missionaries - bringing debate and consideration into a world of prejudice and intolerance"

Anyway, I have Marr and other programmes recorded so I will go and spend some time in the other one-eyed world

I suppose one eye, open, IS better than both eyes shut, with fingers in your ears, repeatedly shouting the same over and over.

Believe it or not, I am in full agreement with you, but when we have Scots nationalists in our parliament, voting on laws that affect the English, and forever agitating for separation, then this union becomes a bind.
They voted to stay, I was pleased, most were, but this group, who, by all accounts now have the support of their nation, just won't accept that.

And if on Brexit we had adopted the EU approach of seeking a mandate from all members of our Union and fashioning an approach based on that instead of ignoring valid concerns we wouldn’t be fuelling that nationalist sentiment would we? You don’t like SNP voting on English matters? Well maybe Scots don’t like English Nationalists deciding their future nor giving a shit what they think.

It cuts both ways and needs both sides to be mindful of the other. This is especially true of the English as the dominant party and who constitutionally hold the whip hand.

May: I have a deal.

Tories: It's Shit. Resign!

(Months Later)

Boris: I have a deal.

Tories: It's Shit. Same one as May had with a little bit of glitter on it.

Boris: There's a significant difference. I'm pushing for this personally.

Tories: You resigned over the same deal under May.

Boris: But I'm Boris!

Tories: We will back the bill. Huzzah Boris!

Love it! good chuckle.

The snp do often abstain, on matters that are obviously english only. maybe to further endear themselves to their own natiolist supporters. but it is indeed a very blurry line what is english only and what affects the union as a whole, and thus scotland. Particularly when anything to do with budget is concerned. That is Westminster.

Very much this.

We did have a mandate from all members of our union, Scotland is part of it, as is Wales and NI, none had any objections to the referendum, the whinging from the SNP started after their side lost.
This is all by the by, not many English are worrying about the Jocks at present, it's all on Brexit.

I didn’t say it must be questioned, although I do find it a bit weird that anyone would choose to call him by an affectionate nickname instead of his actual name. Each to their own though.

You mean like "Jezza"?

I wouldn't call "BoJo" affectionate, myself but hey-ho.

Yes, “Jezza” is equally bad imo. Why not just call people by their actual names?!

Forums and karaoke nights; occasionally uplifting, more often, not. Recently this thread has descended into "an evening with" direction, quite repulsive at times, but purely accidental, shit happens. The "new" mod squad appears to be more neutral, but us punters are behind the one-way mirror so purely guesswork. It needs repeating, for many of the electorate the EU is the cavalry, the haven, the life-belt, the antidote to the likes of murdoch, dacre, desmonds jrm redwood grayling ids banks farage the rump of the thatcherite tendency, the billionaire backers of brexit and everyone that pretends the referendum was in any way demofkincratic....Westminster has enabled and created an environment that would have thatcher cackling with manic glee, thanks entirely to the main stream media agenda. How much further right should the worst happen and we leave, is the stuff of night-mares. Bleats of "compromise" yeah like a spider compromises with a fly, "trust me just step on the web, we'll talk later"
Anyway, time to hand the mike to... "where's everyone gone"....

Their side didn’t lose in Scotland.
There is no mandate from Scotland.
And pretending we do or that the English aren’t ‘worrying about the Jocks at present’ just feeds into the growing resentment that dismissal of their views and concerns brings which in turn fuels nationalism.

And as I said to @mcfc1632 earlier we are currently building a template of how a nation can leave a larger union and solve the issues of bridging two custom territories.
