So whilst I have lots of empathy for the past travails and would understand centuries of resentment - TBF I was making some factual statements with regards to the here and now - last decade or so.

So - from this post - I at least take the view that you recognise that I was indeed speaking about here and now facts - despite our both agreeing about centuries old well-justified causes of grievance

there is simply no deal softer/more detrimental to the UK's interests than any deal that contains the unfettered backstop

So if BoJo has succeeded in getting that removed he has done the UK a great service

Remaining v leaving has not been the basis of the debate in the last 6 months it’s been preventing leaving with no deal but I just know if and when the deal is presented to the house the narrative will again shift to actually we want to remain. That’s my fear.

First things first. Stop no-deal. Let’s say that has been achieved so review the new ‘deal’ on its merits - if it’s not good enough then it should be voted down, surely?

I wish it was being reviewed on its merits but I feel a lot of them have engineered this. They won’t vote for any deal. It’s too much fun bashing the Tories.

Francois is pissed off because the Brexit he is facing isn't the one he has spent 3 years calling for and peddling - he wanted and expected the 2016 version....all the benefits of membership with none of the obligations and costs - he wanted compromise....all on the EU side and now the harsh reality hits he is like a big fat child.

What, you mean Brexit doesn't necessarily mean Brexit? And aren't the EU in the process of caving in faced with the prospect of no deal?

I suspect Francios will be cancelling an order for 25 BMW's and 18 Merc's as the German can manufacturers aren't going to ride over the horizon to help him realise his wet dream.
